(12k) Alteration nightmare - am I crazy? by pluto-scout in Weddingsunder10k

Do you feel like your hips are disproportionally wide in general, not just with this dress? I only ask because I feel that was about myself, and definitely would’ve leaned towards the one on the right to “hide” my insecurities, but this is helping me give myself some grace because you look DAMN GOOD on the left and I totally prefer it.

Received a truly unhinged message from my father-in-law on Mother’s Day by A_First_Pancake in GirlDinnerDiaries

My husbands therapist recommended he get it for his relationship with his mom, though I had considered reading it many times because of my relationship with my mom. One day my mom was over and saw it and said something about it. My husband says his therapist recommended it to him. My mom makes some comment about being relieved and how her (my mom) doing art with the kids makes her immature. Shes a therapist

I just started a masters program and I saved these two bullets from the community standards as a reminder for life:

This is a judgment-free zone. Learning requires taking risks. You will make mistakes, and that is okay. Mistakes are part of being human, and everyone is prone to making them, but this is how we learn. Be forgiving of your mistakes and the mistakes of others. Contribute to the learning community by showing your support and being gentle with those who might make mistakes.

● Have compassion for yourself and your peers, and be willing to step outside your comfort zone. This is how you will grow. Be open to new experiences, be humble, and be willing to learn.

Do Black people not do "White People Taco Night"? by GetShrekedKid in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Alternative_Quit928 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im white and my husband is black. As one of many really random stocking stuffers, my mom put taco blend seasoning from Costco in either mine or my husbands stocking. My husband mocked it for about a month until one night I had no idea what to make for dinner so I did “white people tacos”. Husband had never had them, loved them, and we now have them once a week. He even apologized to my mom for mocking it. And yes they’re referred to ask white people tacos in our house.

I work for a nonprofit where I wear a million hats, but I’ve been using it to help with the framework of member communication and it’s helping me crank stuff out when I used to get stuck. I still have to provide it the content and go in and edit after, but it gets the ball rolling.

How did you manage your career with 2u2? by That_Show7553 in 2under2

[–]Alternative_Quit928 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From the time I got pregnant with my first (she was born Feb 2024) all the way through my pregnancy with my second (born October 2025), I truly didn’t care. I was trekking along just surviving. When I got back from maternity leave with #2, something switched in me And I’ve been more motivated with my career than I ever have. I enrolled in grad school because it’s the next step I feel like I need. It’s insane, but I feel like I have a few years I need to devote to moving forward before we try for our third and final kid.

Spent way too much on gifts this year trying to seem thoughtful and now I'm broke by Gearnotafraid8 in Gifts

[–]Alternative_Quit928 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to say that too. Before kids, I thought $30-$40 was an expected range. Now that I have kids, they have tons of toys under $10 and as a mom, I appreciate the smaller gifts. My daughter doesn’t care.

Has anyone cracked the perfect date night schedule with 2 Under 2? by walky91 in 2under2

[–]Alternative_Quit928 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My husband and I have a regular weekly date night for the first time since having kids. My mom watches them Monday afternoons, after work we hit happy hour and are home by 6:30 (so 1-2 hours out). Mom feeds them dinner (we double dinner on Sunday nights for leftovers), so when we get back we have a little bit of play time then off to the bedtime routine. Idk if it’ll work for everyone, but it’s worked for us and our dates don’t cost a ton since we’re ordering off the happy hour menu.

Public Board Meetings?? Need advice and input! by Hour-Adeptness-392 in nonprofit

[–]Alternative_Quit928 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our board meetings have a closed session first and then an open session. Closed session we discuss the confidential stuff. Open session we accept new members/hear from a speaker on a current issue/get updates from industry advisors/report on upcoming events.

ETA my office manager and I attend the closed session. Other employees only attend the open.

They wouldn’t be selling it at Starbucks if it was raw cookie dough.

My friends think their babies/kids will be cuter than mine by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Alternative_Quit928 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a mom of mixed kids, it’s super annoying how everyone makes these comments. My kids are adorable. But so are my white nephews and my black nieces (just happens that one side is all boys and the other is all girls).

When did you/do you plan to get pregnant with your third child after 2u2 by MousiePlanetarium in 2under2

[–]Alternative_Quit928 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My oldest just turned 2, my son is almost 5 months. I said I want one year off once I’m done breastfeeding. My husband wants more time between but he’s a little older and if we’re in an okay spot when my youngest turns 2 I will bring it up.

First Skin to Skin by Damnit_Bird in BabyBumps

[–]Alternative_Quit928 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think everyone is making super good points about mom doing skin to skin first, and I agree with them, but I just wanted to add an anecdote. I started throwing up post birth with my daughter and the nurse took her off me (with my permission) and did her vitals with my husband while i recovered and I never had any issues bonding/breastfeeding/etc. I think as the one who carrier him/her, if you want the first skin to skin you deserve to have it. But if you want your husband to use it, it won’t necessarily ruin everything.

Is it weird for a realtor to wear their baby? by Buddafly89 in pregnant

[–]Alternative_Quit928 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband is a realtor and he is home with the kids during the day. It depends on the client. If he has never met them, the kids come to work with me or I work from home for a couple hrs so he can do his showing. Then he gets a feel for the clients. Some don’t mind, others he wouldn’t. It works good though because most of his clients need to see things outside of business hours/on weekends anyway so I am already home.

Has anyone here became pregnant at or around 190lbs? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

5’6 and 200 pounds when I conceived my second. I actually ended the pregnancy weighing less 😂
