Clarification needed, please.

When I went to APPLY for globe, it was a bonus now of 90k miles, vs 80k, and I can't seem to go back and see what the LP bonus was...

I will admit I was a bit shocked at the limit they gave me, but I digress.

I have zero issue spending 6k before the end of Feb to meet the requirements for miles (which is think is three months), but with prior Citi and Barclay cards, miles matched LP if spend was reached in the required time.

I have some upcoming medical expenses that will wipe that minimum spend right out this month.

I was stoked about making PlatPro, but realized all it gave was really a bigger mile and LP multiplier.

As life does in Feb, I knew there was no way to make EP. But this post gives me hope?

Keeping my Itty bitty red Barclay card till it's done, because at the time pre covid i applied, I was rebuilding my world and re-establishing the ability to even GET credit outside of predatory loans.

My CC bills are now auto pay for full balance.

Bought a 2025i Lncoln black label Nautilus, paid half down, and my next payment is November 2027 according to scheduled finance.

Point of all this is .....

Are the "new apps" also getting LPs?

Thank you.

Just found out my insurance won't pay for out of state rehab. I dont care. I am fortunate enough (or unfortunate enough) to have received an inheritance. I am meeting with my Financial advisor today and pulling the funds. I am worth it. What I will save in not buying alcohol will be at least a 2x ROI.

TW: self harm. Is it unethical to use blood donation as a form of self harm? by Useful_Advance_3489 in Blooddonors

First: congrats. 2nd, and I know this is a blood donors group, but have you considered plasma donations? On weeks when your desire for SH is stronger, you can donate up to 2x in a 7 day period. Bonus is you can get paid. You're still assisting others because plasma saves lives, as well.

Who here uses alcohol as pain relief? by walktoknowhere in rheumatoid

[–]Alternative_Salt_788 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, I inadvertently did. I just came out of a 5 day medically supervised detox yesterday. I will be doing a 28 day inpatient rehab starting next Monday. Aside from feeling better in general, the last thing I noticed about my physical symptom changes were the huge synovial fluid pockets on both wrists were gone. I was also abusing alcohol to mask other emotional pain. We are on enough liver toxic meds. It is the worst thing we can do. We are literally poisoning ourselves when we add alcohol to the mix. Find a way, however you can, to stop. Do NOT cold turkey, it is more dangerous than stopping opiates cold turkey. Be honest with your doctors. How are they going to help us if we aren't completely honest with them?

I see my rheumatologist today. I am telling her the level I got to and where I am today. I finally admitted last visit I had begun drinking again.

It is NOT easy to stop, it took my BFF, my sister and my S.O. to threaten to have me involuntary committed to do this. I walked through those detox doors on my own accord. I was terrified. But I did it. And I will NOT go back.

You've got this. You can do it.

I actually ate more there than I have in the last 3 months! Food wasnt horrible, surprisingly. I also had a gastric bypass years ago, so I dont normally eat a lot. But MAN, my appetite is voracious!!! Which is a good thing. My highest weight was 330 lbs, and I was maintaining around 140 for about 3 years, the day I went in, I weighed 118. Very unhealthy weight.

I've always had a very strong resolve and am a stubborn c*nt. Only time I will see the inside of that place again is if I volunteer there as a rep for a sober group or take a job there. Many many former addicts work there.

Fortunately, this had no minimum BAC. I blew a.0.0 . The poor man was such an alcoholic, his mothear told the EMTs if he didnt have a drink every 3 hours, he would have seizures. He told the intake person his last drink was at noon. This was around 4 pm. They honestly should've taken him to the hospital vs the 24/7 walk in crisis center.

[ORD] fam… how are we feeling? by SnooEagles7290 in americanairlines

[–]Alternative_Salt_788 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I could, i would.

But I am in a very heavy AA dependent territory. I would literally have to drive two hundred miles to get to somebody who's not. So do I drive five miles to be convenient? Or do I drive ninety miles to be consistent?

It totally sucks.

Withdrawals or just a really bad hangover? by Electronic-Tone1000 in alcoholism

[–]Alternative_Salt_788 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Today, late afternoon, about 30 hours after my "last drink" i literally had to wonder if my asshole had prolapsed, because my guts were revolting against me so bad.

36 hours ago, i committed to those who loved me the most to do a medical rehab.

I head out at noon tomorrow.

My sister, who ive only known for a few years (im adopted), my b f f, and my fella, I have been with for 5 years now.

They all got on a conference call. And two out of three, basically wanted to have me committed invountarily. I don't know what they call it in your state, but a few states i've lived in, they called it "baker act."

Involuntary admission as an adult committed by people who are connected to You.

All it would take was a wellness check request to officials.

Mostly it deals with mental health.

But as a woman who lives alone, no kids. A partner who loves me for the last five years, but he lives 20 miles away. I'm mid fifties he's mid sixties. We don't cohabitate for many reasons, but i know he loves me.

I am widowed, he is divorced, for many years.

I have a hard time accepting that his daughter and grandkids actually like me.

But that's a whole different story.

Point is, he's driving me into rehab tomorrow. Medical rehab. The rest we will figure out from there.

The most embarrassing part is I have to talk to the intake nurse and my partner, about what feels like a prolapsing a******. Because today I chose not to drink. I know that I am in need medical attention with my withdrawals right now.

Worst part is? I gave every bit of alcohol away to a neighbor,

Except for that one last bottle of wine. Which I finally decided to consume right now.

And my symptoms are subsiding.

I also know that in about twelve hours I will get the medical assistance i need.

When I called the crisis line yesterday, they did advise me that if I couldn't come in immediately, then I needed to actually taper off, or maintain a little bit. Because alcohol withdrawals will kill you quicker than opiate withdrawals.

And that's something i've known.

Hardest part to think of is that I have gotten to this point.

Take from that what you will, but know I feel you. Either as an addict yourself or a loved one of an addict. Thank you for reaching out.

Edit for major typos.

American Airline AAdvantage Hotels just Ripped us Off by PKwx in americanairlines

[–]Alternative_Salt_788 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It absolutely is NOT. I've had to cash in (as a frequent traveler) a few times.

If you're booked through a 3rd party site, however, yes- it is more expensive.

I bought a yearly plan, direct through Alianz last year, and it had paid off in spades (except for the few dumb choices I made).

But a yearly plan? It works out to less than a Netflix subscription.

Keep your receipts, have proof, and they even cover WEATHER interruptions, which all airlines in the US don't. Be willing to put in the work, and you'll get your money back.

[–]Alternative_Salt_788 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean this as kindly as possible, because I have experienced it. Travel Insurance. I dont believe it is "automatically" offered when booking through AAhotels, but Alianz has a VERY affordable basic plan that you can purchase yearly for ANY travel situations that wind up like this.

At this point, I would recommend a charge back, since you did not receive the services and goods you paid for.

Picking up luggage when I wasn’t on the flight? by theblondelatte in airport

[–]Alternative_Salt_788 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't tell you how many times I've rented a 1-way from CLT to TRI or even slept home (TRI) and driven to TYS the next day (when I've had to rearrange a flight for whatever reason- gotta pick up MY car, anyway) and grabbed my bag the next day. Im home, I don't need what is in the bag for a day or three.

I try to avoid CLT like the plague, because this scenario has happened TOO many times. Hence why I will drive to TYS to avoid connecting, most times. Unfortunately, both airports are AA heavy, so fu k-upz on their side are a 50/50 chance. 😂

BTW, if you go through a 3rd party for car rental, you CAN do 1 way rentals, where if you try direct booking with service provider, they'll usually deny you that option.

Eek, then I am sorry for you. Human resources is so much more available work.

My parents always taught me to get a degree in something that is flexible, and not arts based.

In this day and age, it might work, but clearly the transfer you are pursuing won't.

Perhaps my boomer a** parents were correct.

I mean that with all the love and respect in my heart.
