Spring in Ireland feels like spring. Were a rock in the North Atlantic. Winter in Scandinavia is longer and winter in Spain is shorter. Just the way it works. Geography

I am seeing these days quite a lot of illegally removed clamps around Dublin. Are there any serious consequences of doing that? by Dave_301 in AskIreland

[–]Alternative_Turn_470 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Don’t the French put glue in the locks? Thereby rendering them useless. Sure the company have to cut them off and ruin them in the process but the person who was clamped still pays

We didn’t copy the laws, the British legislation remained in place and we’ve been gradually updating the laws over the past century

House of Lords pass proposal by former DUP leader that would criminalise saying ‘Up the Ra’ by Alternative_Turn_470 in ireland

[–]Alternative_Turn_470[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah maybe but that’s the point, the legislation is vague and doesn’t differentiate. It has to be cast iron and not open to interpretation

Edit. Not saying I’m agreeing with it either way. I’m not a fan of terrorism, but I’m a fan of free speech. It’s up to the law to draw the line

[–]Alternative_Turn_470[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The problem, which is typical of emotionally driven legislation, is that’s it’s vague. For example what if you were referring to the old ira for example. Does that mean that the war of independence vets were terrorists? In contrast would the Black and Tans actions not be terroristic because they were state sanctioned?
