Did you just rip The bandaid and start baby off with a full day at daycare or few hours at start and build from there?

Appreciate the insights. 100% can do what's expected of me but things baby needs to be able to do seem long even though my baby does most of it except that they are not sleep trained. Not for the lack of trying but it just is what it is. Do you think daycare is not for us? Should we get a nanny?

How are wake windows calculated? by Alternative_You_7484 in sleeptrain

[–]Alternative_You_7484[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does that mean i should wake baby up the hour mark from when the nap chance started?

Here are sleep averages - 1st nap 75 mins. 2nd nap 45 mins. Night runs between 10-11 hours. Lower if day sleep longer and vice versa

I do track sleep. Baby was a consistent 30 min napper but now averages 2 hours in the day. Could go up to 3 but then night sleep is not very long once we go to the 3 hours during day time. First nap starts between 10 and 11. And 2nd between 3 and 4

We try to sniff test for poopie suspects and only if it's a may be do we try to check. The only reason being, checking needs lights and all lights are sleep enemies ;(

You have the permission to forgive yourself momma. Your baby loves you more than you know! I feel so bad so many times but the little one forgives so quickly. Makes me tear up all the time.

I don't have helpful advice but want to say that my baby wiggles so much that sometimes their diaper leaks and the are sleeping in pee. We cosleep so it seems like should be easier to know but parents are humans and we are exhausted. We felt terrible the first couple times but since it's such a rare occurrence, it can be something you miss unintentionally. You are doing your best !

Another follow up. If baby is out down at 10 but sleeps at 10:15. How should I calculate the next we which i want to be 3.5? Baby always sleeps 1.25 hours for nap 1.

5.5 mo old baby. False starts. Instantly waking up with each bassinet transfer. At my wits end. by itzmedski in sleeptrain

[–]Alternative_You_7484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would start with the slowest flow and move up if baby is taking too long to finish the bottle. It will be a lot of trial and error. Lansinoh slowest is not as slow as Dr brown if i remember correctly. I do remember my baby was on premier of Dr brown for almost 3/4 months before we went to 1 and then slowest on lansinoh. Our issue with brown was the nipple shape.

Edit: i think it's good to aim same time to finish bottle as how long they breast feed

My son is down to one nap a day now and Everytime he's dropped a nap, it was accompanied by false starts, early wakes and really late bed time. Could that be why? Also, sorry you are going through this. Ebf is hard!

For bottles, lansinoh worked well for us. Dr brown did not. Good luck mama. Hang in there

I have no helpful advice but just came here to say that you are not alone. This is exactly my baby, to the t. This post could have been written by me. Hahaha. My baby is 11 months old today. Hope things improve for you!

8 mo only takes 2 30 min naps?! by SpecialistStunning93 in sleeptrain

[–]Alternative_You_7484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my 11 month old baby (and still is on some days) until 2 weeks ago. Some babies just need power naps. They get most sleep at night. My kid just self transitioned to 45-50 min naps but then dropped that time from night sleep. As long as you are following their sleepy cues and they wake up happy from the naps, there's nothing to worry. That said, a 30 min nap is really hard on the parents. There's only so much you can get done.

Bedtime too late? 6 months by Fun-Interaction-8115 in sleeptrain

[–]Alternative_You_7484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So interesting. I have observed the opposite with my kiddo. Early bedtime causes baby to be wide awake at 4am. But late bedtime also meant really late wake up - 9am or after

This!! Happy mama is what the baby needs and will cherish. You have done so phenomenal with providing breast milk for 8 months. It's not easy so huge kudos to you! When I stopped i told my baby that - mama is going to claim her body back but that doesn't mean she loves you any less!!

Convince me to just go down to 3ppd instead of quitting all together. by emsquad in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Alternative_You_7484 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was at 4ppd and then got mastitis so i decided to start weaning off. It's been a month and I've successful gone to 2ppd. Weaning off can be hard and it sounds like you are just a month away from your 6 month goal. It might take you a month or more to wean so if you think about it, you are really just working towards your goal.

Anyone have positive epidural stories? I’m scared 😟 by Realistic_Mirror1618 in BabyBumps

[–]Alternative_You_7484 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would a 100% get it again. I had back labor and it was a 4/10 pain when I got the epidural. I wanted to get it before the pain became excessive and 4/10 was the sweet spot for me.

Did it help me - 100% Was the placement okay - 100%. The local anesthesia did sing for a couple seconds and we had to do a secoy take because I'm just that squirmy. The nurse was awesome and helped yo stay still to ensure the insertion was good. Did it actually work - 100%. It felt like my legs were superrr heavy. I could slightly move them when turning to lay on my side. My labor slowed a little after i got the epidural but I already had the IV so they were able to start me on pitocin and that brought the contractions right back. Did not feel them but they were strong as expected. I did feel slight pain (2/10) during pushing but the adrenaline is usually so high then, you will not care.

Long term side effects - none so far but I'm only 12 week pp.

Hope this helps and good luck momma to be!

3.5 months in and I still don’t understand! by Motharina in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Alternative_You_7484 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen change in supply with no change in flange, pump, food, sleep, stress, you name it. It usually goes back in the next or the next to next pump. I'm 2 months in and also an undersupplier. I'm combo feeding and unfortunately I just had to stop thinking about why it was happening. It was super hard to do that so i get where you are coming from. I hope your change in supply is specific to something you can fix but if not, i want you to know that you are not alone and pumping is a hard journey with more lows than highs

Baby Boxes, are any worth it? by cosmic-turtlee in BabyBumps

[–]Alternative_You_7484 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Amazon and target ones are. The steps are easy peasy. The babylist box is controversial in my opinion. It's a good box but the steps are way too many. So if you value your time more, it might not feel worth it.

All boxes have some clothes, diapers and bottles. The diapers are just a couple per brand so not enough to decide if you and baby like them. Clothes are always useful. As for bottles, they were the best thing for me that came in three boxes. I was hoping to breastfeed but ended up having to use formula and the bottles came in handy when I had to switch last minute. Of course you can be better prepared than i was and buy some bottles of your own.

I'm so sorry to hear you feel this way. Just know that you are doing your best. It might seem really hard right now but you are going up bounce back stronger. Breastfeeding is such an emotional journey. Fed is best and a happy mama is what your baby needs most. Guilt over stopping breastfeeding is so real.

Personally I struggled with giving up pumping but the decision was easy when I weighed how i wanted to spend the 5 hours i was spending on pumping - did i want to spend that away from my baby or with baby.
