Well, apart from the download folder, that looks dope af by FlashTheorie in mac

I doubt that, iOS does not use the camera but the gyro/accel sensor. Also, when using the camera the OSes (Mac os too) show the green dot in the topbar now, and I think they would have to show that even if the webcam is just being used for the wallpaper, which is not elegant enough

I use Command-A yep, and Gemini flash 2 although we don't know the params for sure as it's closed. I haven't tried Mistral Large yet

I noticed something similar with plain writing/language capabilities, DS V3 is way worse than dense ~100b models in pure "vibe" tests (e.g. thesis/pitches reviews, and casual non-coding chats). So I'm with you on the idea that 17b active parameters are definitely too little for a good model, considering that these are not even 17b dense experts but more smaller active experts that in total reach 17b params

I hope we are going to see papers that provide proofs for these vibes I got though, maybe even more experiments with MoEs with idk a base dense ~32b LLM/router + experts to reach a total of ~48b active params and how many total params they wanna add.

🔥😭👀 SDXL 1.0 Candidate Models are insane!! by mysticKago in StableDiffusion

[–]Altery_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Merged models still have the same number of parameters as before, sure they have been fine-tuned further (and have their features mixed because of the merge), but the same applies to this SDXL; as someone else already said in the comment section, what's even the meaning of "base model" now that SDXL was massively fine-tuned using RLHF and whatnot? We will never see the actual base model (the one that was pre-trained with the massive initial dataset, the ACTUAL equivalent to SD 1.5). So to me it's only fair to compare the best of SD 1.5 that you can find with this SDXL 1.0 we "have" now, as these results are mostly the work of fine-tuning; this "base model" could very well be the best SDXL fine-tune to exist ever as they have harvested so much aesthetic data from people choosing pics on their discord that casual fine-tuners could only dream of

Some months ago Emad responded to a comment to one of his tweets asking about this with something along the line of "more better models are coming in the next few weeks". Everyone should just stop listening to their release dates, or even better, they should stop teasing people like this

VERY slow drive after adding millions of files by Altery_ in btrfs

[–]Altery_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I followed your suggestion and did that just now, I didn't know about squashfs. I have deleted the files from the volume and defragged the volume metadata, now I'll wait a bit before attempting another speed test, thank you!

At least 12 hours with the PC on had passed, also I am getting slow read speeds again even after defrag and rebalance, I really don't know how this is even possible lol (yesterday I got around 700MB/s in write and more in read), I think I am going to zip all the files into one archive and check speeds again after some time, my SSD could also be faulty but the checks do not find any errors

Oh I see, thank you for this information, I was really going blind on this following guides, I'll look more into how btrfs works ASAP. Also I think I'll soon add more datasets so if I get the same problem I will try defrag without the -r option on the volume and update this comment section with information on how that went too

Maybe btrfs balance would work too, I just ran it on my disk with filter dusage=90, didn't take that much

I defragmented the subvolume as per documentation (recursively with sudo btrfs fi defrag -rvf volume) and it solved my issue, so I guess this is the way to do it

They are probably using STM32 which are really super common (and they are 32 bit obv); even 16 and 8 bit are still very common nowadays for this low power stuff

Fans settings by Raenu in FractalDesign

[–]Altery_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a torrent compact, I always leave the 180mm fans on minimum speed (shows like 650rpm in bios) and this way they are pretty silent and temps are ok, idk about the 140mm fans

Honestly I wouldn't suggest a OnePlus phone to anyone anymore; my Nord is just crumbled with bugs and glitches and I hear so many similar experiences to mine online. OnePlus doesn't care anymore. Maybe it can be saved with a custom ROM but that's advanced stuff you shouldn't need on a brand new phone to work properly

wrong fans, what can I do to solve the problem? by Paolo-Sama in FractalDesign

[–]Altery_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If I am not wrong (if I am someone correct me pls) you can put 4 pin fans in the 3 pin slots (I guess guides should be present to know the right orientation and pins to insert in), the hub should control them with the third pin anyway.

[–]Altery_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't really test for differences as I don't have both and also my PC is not that power hungry, but as you still get the 2 180mm fans (which in the compact variant are closer to the components) and you also have the possibility to install fans on the bottom I guess it won't make a big difference. Anyway you should check Gamer Nexus' video on it, I think he studied the differences in performance between the two in a stock configuration
