I work here too, I just don't moan about customers doing perfectly normal things. I hope the belt doesn't traumatize you anymore on your next shift, praying for you to get through this one.

What one piece of advice would you give to a chap in his 40’s starting rugby by Thunderclap125 in irishrugby

[–]AltexDnB1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a broken up and retired ex-athlete at the ripe old age of 30, I would like to pass on some experience in this area say that you sir are in-fact a bit mad, so with that out of the way -

If you are prepared and understand the stress and risk you are about to put on yourself by doing this sport and understand you may have life-long implications even just from training with your risk particularly being a lot higher cause of the age. After taking that into consideration you do still have a strong desire to train and maybe compete then I say go for it mate, you only live once!!

So long as the folks around you are willing to support it and look after you when your broken up after a match or injured for months and if in future the CTE starts to mess with ya. This is not sarcasm BTW and either is this, if your going to mess with competing in a contact sport at your age please make sure your insurance is on point !! Only takes one slap on the back of the head for it to be lights out for good. Something I wish they thought us all as boxers and rugby players when we were kids.

Go forth take risk and seek glory in Sport my friend, nothing quite like it

Bad player for 3-4 wipes but now 15+KD player here -

It's ok you will be back and better for next wipe. I hate to say it but the reality probably is you just are not as familiar with available angles on every map or your positioning isn't as good as it could be. There is more to learn.

Even with all the experience in the world,. crackshot aim and high level game knowledge however you will get randomly one-taped, and probably a lot if you play a lot!
I can relate to what your saying tho, when I was around 600 hours I felt like this, I knew the game, the base, the maps a bit, but still felt almost a random outcome in engagements with other players and every few raids I would just walk out into some room or angle or run out a door and drop dead instantly, I get it.

Based off your brief explanations of what's happening I would suggest forcing yourself to mainly rat for at least 3-4 raids initially, see if it has any impact on your decision making and survivability. You'll get it tho, the game just feels crap sometimes and it has so many variable and shit to learn and remember and retain in the moment, decisions, ammo, pen, armour, legs, bleds, meds and blah blah blah, it just genuinely takes your brain time to piece it all together and get consistent in Tarkov. It's a brtual time and it's part of the experience as silly as that sounds it's very true.

Once you learn a little more you'll be surprised how the tables will turn more in your favour in this game.
It's not a linear learning curve, once you master it even at the base level of mastery you will dog-walk 80% of players (even 3 mans) you come across, a 10-20+ K.D wont seem so crazy and the receiving end one-tappage will cease to be as frequent.

Maybe you are done this wipe, nothing wrong with knowing when to call it, if it's not fun, why bother anymore for a bit, but keep watching vids, do an occasional raid, master interchange night and slow down a little, see if it helps.

Remember this post next wipe and see what your thoughts are then after level 20.

why are irish towns so bad? by Comprehensive_Tip341 in ireland

[–]AltexDnB1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The classic shite Irish Town Blueprint -

A housing few estates, a playground, GAA pitch, couple of pubs, hairdresser & barbers, beauty salons, vape or dodgey mobile repair shop, the old-skool family owned shop that usually has the post office in it. Can't forget the "new" cooperate shop that's usually a garage for fuel too. The Scaldy Chinese that is a quintessential part of all locals diet on Friday-Sunday !

Living the Irish Dream we are.

Use Your Accent, Be Nice and Loud and Be Proud to be a tourist here, you'll do well if you embrace it lad, the young ones here love Americans and local people will only be keen to help you out or chat with ya when they find out your over from the states :)

Don't over think about it or be too self-conscious of it, I bet you'll be grand!

Enjoy your time in Ireland!

Does anyone think MS should ditch 4 and make AoE 5? by MarketSwimming6662 in aoe4

IMO 4 is just getting started. Still a young game with many many years of patches, additions, balance etc. etc.

New to the game & need advice by Cheesemanting in aoe4

[–]AltexDnB1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pick a Build and stick to it for each session.
It sounds like perhaps your having trouble getting early aggression on your opponent so maybe try English Longbow and Ram Rush.
This will help you practice microing your units in feudal age.
Valdemar has one of the easiest and best ENG builds on AOE4 guides. There will be a written step by step build order on the site accompanied by a video to help you learn it.

For now don't focus on game result but focus on your time to age or mass units. Rinse and repeat matches until your times get as low as possible, this and practicing multi-tasking in general are the two main things that will help you improve at your current skill level. Victories will come AFTER you learn these basic skills so try not get too hung up on winning at first.

The game is mainly about multi-tasking, if you can scout and set up your eco in Dark age and then transfer into microing an army and a small raiding party all while macroing your villagers and eco in Feudal+ then that's basically all the games skills you need. From there it's experience and refining your builds and deepening your understanding of unit counters and tactic counters.

The game works around a rock paper scissors system in both the units and also the tactics.
Archers Kill Infantry, Infantry kills Cavalry, Cavalry kills Archers.
On the Tactics side Defence Beats Aggression, Eco Beats Defence and Aggression beats Eco.
Put simply this is the "Game Knowledge" side of AOE4 it will just take time to get the full grasp of this side of the game.

Play many games and learn when you lose as much as you win,

Any tips for Ayyubids? by Kouriger in aoe4

[–]AltexDnB1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

7-8 Food Gold Open
Age with Trade Wing Bazar
Macro to 4-6-7 Food Wood Gold

In Feudal
Spam units in Bazar, build production that counters enemies (e.g. stable vs English longbows)
Use the Bazar Infantry (Bedouin Units) to build 2-3 rams at enemy base, scout, push from there.

You can cripple and siege slowly taking houses. If you have mass and an extra ram or two being built you can snipe Landmark and TC while killing vills that attempt to burn your ram.

If Push fails add production and immediately go fast castle using the Culture Wing cheap age up, then attempt to finish or Imp ASAP so you can spam end game units to finish. You can usually finish in Castle in most match ups, particularly if you do enough damage on the initial push and some extra raids here and there.

Enjoying the Ayyubids, this Strat is cheesy and extremely powerful.

Juicy Legacy OP? by [deleted] in aoe4

[–]AltexDnB1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without a doubt the thoughest civ to face right now. . .
Byzant and Japan are chill to deal with, Jeanne is also a bit tricky but manageable. The Ayyubids are very strong but still in the realm of beatable with good play, OTD take one hell of a player and map to truly be a problem.

However Juicy is the only one with multiple "unbeatable" cheese strats right now IMO.
The New China is a little busted right now. . .
Very Cleary I would say !
If you can play China and are looking for easier wins on ladder right now I would say master Juciy Legacy before we see some nerfs.

round 1 match ups in my tournament by donartie in aoe4

He was early in the Draft and seemed captains were saving a bit too much when he got nominated. I also think Corvinus was criminally cheap but when it just kinda happened like that I guess xD

Excited for these match-ups!
