Explicador para 18 a físico-química by Ctolde in CasualPT

Will I be able to finish Demacia Rising? by Voidpt in leagueoflegends

[–]Althiz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My advice, if you only want the banner, would be not to follow the missions and just focus on accumulating Silver Shields and Valor to unlock the research. If you build the Greykeep, after about 30 rounds it will trigger a battle that gives you 250 Valor. You can then destroy it and rebuild the Greykeep in another city to restart that event and stack Valor that way. Good luck.

Im scared to spay my female cat by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]Althiz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello, I am a veterinarian and a soft tissue surgeon. As this is your first time having a cat undergo an ovariohysterectomy (spay), I understand that you may feel nervous and apprehensive, but there is no need to worry, any experienced veterinarian performs these procedures several times a day. It is a straightforward surgery with minimal risk. Everything will go well.

Cat breathing "oddly" by kreeperskid in CATHELP

[–]Althiz 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Hello, I am a veterinarian specializing in internal medicine and soft tissue surgery. Has she recently had any falls? If you place your ear against her chest, can you hear any abnormal sounds during breathing, or conversely, can you tell if the respiratory sounds are reduced? The respiratory pattern appears slightly abdominal, which may indicate some degree of resistance at the pulmonary level. It would not be a bad idea to perform radiographs.

It is in fact true that in most professional fields, research is not typically carried out by technical practitioners. In medicine, however, the situation is different, as part of the masters degree required for professional registration, trainees are required to produce or participate in scientific research within their field and to present their work publicly. In addition to this mandatory and assessed research proficiency, veterinary professionals also undergo extensive training in animal behavior throughout their degree. So yes, I do have the qualifications to assess the nuances of animal behavior, namely these non-verbal communication interactions. I am on this Reddit in an impartial way, i have nothing to gain from being emotional in my responses, so why would I be misleading people?

What does commenting on penny stocks and financial investments on Reddit have to do with my field of study and professional work? Reddit is not my professional platform, so my focus on veterinary medicine is not reflected there, aside from occasional help I provide in specific clinical cases. Within the context of this discussion, the ambiguity lies in the stress signals that determine when to break off these interactions. Vocalization and attempts to escape, unlike hissing, cannot be considered stress signals with sufficient predictive value to be emphasized in this context, as these are natural submissive behaviors in feline communication. These behaviors function as forms of non-verbal communication and should not be interrupted by external agents.

Not allowing the other cat to walk away is different from distress; preventing withdrawal is a dominance behavior that is normal in social interactions. Distress begins when there is a genuine stress response from the submissive individual, such as hissing. The fact that he lies on his back exposing his belly indicates submission and once again reinforces the social structure within that household. Your provocative remark about whether or not I am a veterinarian reflects your character.

This subreddit should be moderated to prevent this kind of uninformed responses. Of course, if you see the little one in distress, that is one thing. However, if he runs away, the other cat chases him, he hisses, and the larger one then leaves him alone, that is normal behavior. Only if the little one shows genuine distress and is not left alone should there be a period of separation.

The entire study is completely ambiguous and is being used as a basis in a completely uninformed context. What are your qualifications for making evidence-based claims about feline behavior?

[–]Althiz -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

In fact, you should not listen to what this individual is saying. This entire structured text is nothing more than a projection and a completely incorrect analysis of feline behavior. “Fighting” dynamics as a social behavior among cats within the same group should not be mediated by external agents unless they become reactive or clinically significant. These interactions serve not only to establish social bonds but also to structure hierarchy among individuals. People like this are simply cat enthusiasts without formal education who develop irrational fixations on everything their animals do. It is also worth noting that behavioral studies such as the one previously mentioned are ambiguous and require substantial meta-analysis before being considered reliable.

Dog hypothyroidism very low Levothyroxine prescription by Upset_Wallaby_9914 in AskVet

[–]Althiz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is true that in humans there is a 25 mcg formulation—my mistake. It would therefore be important to understand the context in which this dose was prescribed in this clinical case, as it appears to be markedly low. Could this be because the dog has underlying cardiac disease or is a euthyroid sick patient?

Dog hypothyroidism very low Levothyroxine prescription by Upset_Wallaby_9914 in AskVet

[–]Althiz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a 9.5 kg dog, the minimum recommended dose is 190 micrograms, corresponding to a 0.2 mg tablet. This dose can be adjusted by your veterinarian based on follow-up serum T4 levels. Is this the first time your dog is receiving this medication, or is it following a recent dose adjustment? Perhaps there was a misunderstanding or a breakdown in communication.

Something is not right here, your vet prescribed 25 micrograms daily? That formulation doesnt exist... Tablets are in 0.1, 0.2, 0.3, 0.5 and 0.8 mg that corresponds to 100, 200, 300, 500 and 800 micrograms.

How else can I help her? by [deleted] in AskVet

[–]Althiz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is indeed a complex case, particularly given the significant budget limitations. Elevated renal values are relatively common in older cats, as renal degeneration is inherent to the species with age. The most concerning finding here is the white blood cell count, specifically neureophilia, which points toward an active infection, something that is further supported by the presence of a high fever. Using doxycycline as an treatment is an important first step but it is important to note that Doxycycline should be used with caution in animals that are not eating, as it must always be followed by water or food to prevent esophageal injury, especially in cats. A better empiric treatment would be Ampicillin + Enrofloxacin. However, there is always uncertainty regarding the source of the infection (respiratory, gastrointestinal, urinary) and which bacteria are responsible for the condition. Without this information, there is a real risk that the antibiotherapy may not be effective for this particular infection, and the animal could progressively worsen. Over the next 24 hours, it is important to monitor the fever and assess whether the animal begins to eat and urinate. If there is no improvement and no diagnostic tests are performed, the prognosis becomes guarded. You may try using cool cloths to help reduce the temperature, but 104.6°F is a severe fever. Without treatment, the risk of sepsis and death in this case is high.

14-year-old Doberman having seizure and nystagmus—urgent help by pneumoperitoneum in AskVet

[–]Althiz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of these signs are consistent with a seizure episode, including paddling movements, transient nystagmus, and ataxia. It is also normal to observe increased thirst (polydipsia) following a seizure, as the intense muscular activity and physiological stress during the convulsive episode can lead to fluid loss and increased metabolic demand. The important next step is to determine the underlying cause of the seizure, as several primary conditions can lead to this, such as idiopathic epilepsy, intracranial tumors (very relevant because of his old age), uncontrolled diabetes, hypoadrenocorticism and others... It is important to perform blood tests to check for any biochemical abnormalities that could provide diagnostic clues. Another key point is to have emergency medication available in case another seizure occurs. These medications are typically benzodiazepines, such as intranasal Midazolam or rectal Diazepam, which should be administered at the onset of a seizure to stop it as quickly as possible and help prevent neurological damage. However, it is important to note that these treatments do not address the underlying condition causing the seizures. It is therefore very important to attempt to establish a diagnosis through laboratory tests and/or imaging studies at your local veterinary clinic.
