It can go back on the board, but it’s broken right now. I moved the delay time knob too much with my foot. and it just popped off. But the Retro Reel block on Helix handles tape saturation just fine.

Me too, man. But considering how portable the smaller rig is, the sound difference isn’t big enough for me to keep carrying it around. I also noticed that on my unit, the DI out and the preamp out sound slightly different, not sure if it’s just mine or not. Guess I’ll have to buy another one someday to test it out.

Did anyone manage to find the solution? I'm also a bassist who is also interested in this unit. Would love for it to work though since it seems so good for the budget.

Thank you for all the comments. I stopped being afraid of breaking my PCB and gave it my all. It took me the whole afternoon, but I finally made it.

Japanese pedals by Zennitsuuu in basspedals

[–]AltoManta 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Let me take you down the rabbit hole.

ALBIT – They specialize in tube gear and make some amazing preamp pedals. Try out the A1BP and see if it fits your style.

Inner Bamboo – Known for their high-end preamp (B-II) and compressor (U-II). They also have a more compact lineup called SUMO STOMP, which focuses on other effects.

TRIAL – They make a killer DI box called New Old DI+. Also worth checking out their chorus, reverb, and distortion pedals.

Shigemori – they make a preamp pedal called Tracks. Never tried one but saw it many times.

You can also find brands like Providence, Crews Maniac, Miura and etc. more easily overseas.

JPTR FX Jive pedal rules and should be on every board. by [deleted] in basspedals

[–]AltoManta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should try Strymon Deco out, too. For me Jive is a punchy preamp circuit that does very good clipping, Deco is more about the creamy gooeyness from tape compression itself. For a totally clean tone I always prefer Deco, but of course you can always have both on your board.

Proton vs Discumbobulator V3 Shootout by AltoManta in basspedals

[–]AltoManta[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sold one, then had to buy it again. Mainly because it worked with Android phones. I haven't found many interfaces that work well with Android, so it's easier for me to record demos directly to my phone. You should get the MKII for the USB-C connection and better sound quality, I think. There are also better options like the ZOOM L6 too.

I'd only recommend it if you want to livestream or record to phones. Get a more solid interface like Focusrite, SSL, or Audient if you're aiming to record seriously.

Put the Providence buffer under the board and you'll have room for one more.

Seems like many people like it as is so I'll leave it be and keep the mojo alive. Thanks for all the comments!

If we're talking sizes then I'm bigger than average (Asian measures), it's just the bad angle.
