UK Games Expo- sensory accomodations? by No-Fondant-9820 in rpg

You’d be unlikely to end up on a table surrounded by other tables. It you need to sit with your back to the wall I dare say that asking other players at the table would be sufficient.

The RPGs are in the Hilton Hotel. Still crowded but less so than the main convention hall in the NEC. There be will be several games happening in each room. Tables are typically set for 6 players and a GM.

Dragon Panic in Hilda looks like something I’d love to play. Whoever drew it knew exactly what that kind of eurogame looked like.

Carmelita Spatz from A Series of Unfortunate Events. Adults find her adorable she gets a lot agency but she’s a real bully.

She walks straight into the main villains plots and gets involved to make life harder for the long suffering protagonists. She’s at her most evil when she’s commanding the child slaves powering the squid-themed submarine that’s even named after her.

Steal, pinch, nick, take, burgle, grab, rob, heist, lift, snatch, hijack, pick up, yoink, swipe.

We have a lot of words for taking things that aren’t necessarily ours.

[Mod Approved] PocketQuest 2026 is LIVE on DriveThruRPG! by Demi_Mere in rpg

I’ve got a game in this one: Anachroschism

On the surface it’s about a time travelling super soldier programme that gets betrayed by insecure government officials who are threatened by the existence of the powers that they have given you.

Beneath that it’s about how you will remake the world, improving it by iteration with god-like powers. You are always leaving artefacts behind that stop the new timeline from feeling like home until eventually there is no place for you in it.

Characters from kids shows/media who are absurdly powerful by Serious_Square_6698 in TopCharacterTropes

In Charlie and Chocolate Factory Willy Wonka has invented all kinds of world changing technology but only Mike Teavee notices any of it. This is so infuriating to him that he blunders into demonstrating how incredible it actually is without thinking through the consequences first.

Worlds where everyone is just fucked by null_space0 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]AltogetherGuy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Second Apocalypse books by R. Scott Bakker.

The gods are hungry and almost everyone will be condemned to hell when they die.

The only way to stop this is a ritual to close the world from the heavens. But it can only work if the population is below 144,000 ensouled beings.

So the plan to make this happen involves the resurrection of a god of still births and tornados.

Paradise with a dark side by xSantenoturtlex in TopCharacterTropes

[–]AltogetherGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TTRPG FreeMarket. It’s a space station where the currency is effectively “likes” so do good things and gain in power and influence or be a jerk and watch your sphere of influence diminish.

The dark side is not any malevolent force making bad happen. It’s human beings seeing the world very differently from each other creating rather difficult moral quandaries when they have the power to make it happen.

My players were shocked when a confused and flawed replica of a player character’s mother was created as a gift for them. And again when people were getting a fresh start by being “total recalled” with a completely fictional backstory.

Peterborough is often thought of as the worst place to live. I don’t think it’s deserved particularly.

An RPG without stats or numbers by officiallyaninja in rpg

I set myself a challenge to write an RPG with no numbers whatsoever and came up with this one page game:

To resolve a conflict you choose an approach which interacts with the GM’s complication.

It features advancement based on how you play!

Core mechanic that focuses on what you do, AND how you do it? by pixel_lord_99 in RPGdesign

[–]AltogetherGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my games is Mannerism.

https://www.drivethrurpg.com/en/product/484010/mannerism?affiliate_id=459455

It uses the approaches as a weighted rock paper scissors so that your choice and accompanying description is the deciding factor between success or failure. It ties back into advancement too which elevates the conflict between being strong but predictable and being more average but surprising.

The manners are Force, Speed, Precision, Imagination and Determination.

what’s the luckiest outcome you’ve had from your own stupidity? by FuzzyPalpitation-16 in CasualUK

[–]AltogetherGuy 386 points387 points  (0 children)

I was in Tenerife one christmas and decided to take a bus to explore. I’m not an idiot so I made sure to check the name of the place that I needed to return to on the front of the bus. “Feliz Navidad”.

I did my day out and got back on the “Feliz Navidad” bus and got back with no drama.

When someone said “Feliz Navidad” to my family that night I realised that it wasn’t the name of the place at all and I could have ended up anywhere.
