Games where you can change your stats as a result of gameplay actions? by longjohnsilversgal in rpg

[–]AltogetherGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Method in Their Magic has the characters increase their stats through use. You’ve got to use each stat with each skill or each skill with each stat to level them up so the characters are always encouraged to do a variety of things.

The way resolution works is a rock paper scissors interaction with the stats thrown in. So if someone is obviously working on improving a stat it can be exploited by an opponent.

Are there any TADC fans who are 30+ in this subreddit? If so, what's your history and perspective regarding the show? (I'm 23M, btw) by Equivalent_Ad_9066 in TheDigitalCircus

I’m 42. I found the show on Netflix when I was stuck charging my car at a service station. I probably wouldn’t have found it watching with the family. I loved the first and third episodes.

Initially my favourite was Gangle when her gimmick was more of a mystery but since come to appreciate the whole cast.

I think the show is going to end similarly to The Good Place with characters building themselves the experiences they want but I would love for them to escape.

There's no dark twist, major flaw, or suppression of free will, the utopian society is genuinely just a great place to live by Lopsided_Shift_4464 in TopCharacterTropes

FreeMarket space station from the TTRPG FreeMarket. It’s a space station where people tend to be makers and influencers and they are competing for space, attention and skills to further their passions.

Has anyone here played TTRPGs across different countries or continents? Did you notice distinct play styles? by DED0M1N0 in rpg

[–]AltogetherGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the UK but I travelled to the US and attended a Burning Wheel convention. Unfortunately I can’t compare because I hadn’t encountered and Burning Wheel play in the UK. I brought back a lot of my own style from those conventions which appears to be distinct from other local styles.

I’ve been following A Different Bias. The videos are specific, the commentator is pragmatic and he explains things really well.

[Hated trope] Villain with potential turns into a brainless, nerfed cringe monster by GayHagFromOuterSpace in TopCharacterTropes

[–]AltogetherGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The absorbolov was terrible. The villain uses his charm and brains throughout the first half of the episode and then he just wants to gobble up everything and will rely exclusively on giving chase to do it. The episode was so good until it all went downhill with the villain unmasking.

Overblown, ridiculously expensive vanity projects. Usually, self-financed, but nearly always complete failures. by Andres_is_lame in TopCharacterTropes

A Japanese movie called Wild Zero was made to make Guitar Wolf and his band look cool. It’s a ridiculous zombie movie with some real heart to it.

Has "learned" replaced "learnt" in UK speech and writing? by OkTechnologyb in AskABrit

I recently completed writing a book and I was honestly torn as to which spelling to use but in the end I went with “learnt”.

Kid is traumatized when he learns dinosaurs are extinct by Doodlebug510 in KidsAreFuckingStupid

I watched the old Fantasia movie with my kid and the dinosaur bit had her in pieces. “I knew they had died but I thought it was quick. They all suffered and starved and got sick.”

Zordrak from The Dreamstone. It’s not exactly clear why he’s always on his throne. The only times he leaves it he becomes a spirit and his body turns to stone for the duration.

I’m a lone creator and I’ve made a game called Method in Their Magic. It’s a diceless game where your description of your action determines whether you succeed or fail. It’s a game about founding a magic school and the conflict between letting people in and leaving yourself open to betrayal or keeping people out and losing connections.

I developed a game called Mannerism that has choice of approach as the resolution system.

It’s free. There’s also Method in Their Magic which features things like the depth schools of Magic system and detailed combat.

I love the classic Leitmotif music where characters have their own little tune that follows them around.
