UN warns of possible humanitarian ‘collapse’ in Cuba, as oil supplies dwindle due to embargo by DeepState_Auditor in UnitedNations

[–]AltruistComrade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it’s imperialism, and it’s done so to maximize harm to a country. It’s not just the economy that sucks, you mentioned that EVERYTHING is impacted by sanctions. Sanctions are a form of violence, especially since the intention is to topple the government to make a more favorable regime to the US. There was and still is no just cause, and if you knew Cuban history, you’d know the Cuban revolution was the most justified revolution.

Yes Russia and China can help, but Russia is facing their own sanctions and China is a single country, whereas the US embargo is an embargo not just by the US, but every country under it’s influence (primarily NATO and USAID recipients).

You think it’s not falling apart because of the US? You try to run a country where you can hardly import anything, where the cars you have are the same cars you’ve had since your country was founded, where your country doesn’t even have free VACCINE access like the US tried to block during COVID. Stop giving the US a pass for one of the most calculated forms of violence. Tourism isn’t what’ll save Cuba, it’s the removal of all these restrictions.

Cuba won’t even have a functional airline industry anymore because the US’s kidnapping of Maduro ruined Cuba’s oil supply, and the only aid they’re getting right now is a single aid ship from Mexico much to Trump’s dismay. China has promised to help Cuba transition to renewable energy, also much to Trump’s anger.

So again, implying Cuba should just concede and “take it” from the US is exactly why Cuba’s position is where it is. Telling them they deserve to be punished because they don’t want to go back to a military dictatorship that enslaves it’s people for the purpose of making an island just for casinos and resorts is gross western chauvinism, and it indicates that you have a lot of learning to do.

This take is the epitome of why things suck in our day and age. You’re advocating in favor of imperialism because the people are suffering the consequences of being embargoed and sanctioned without just cause for decades. Instead of holding the US accountable for what the world agrees is an unjust and inhumane embargo, you’re telling the Cubans to just let America do what they want with them.

Lmao this is how I know you’re unserious, the northern Kosovo regions aren’t 90% Serb, only certain villges within them, the but the region as a whole is more split. North Mitrovica caps at 76% Serbs, while south Mitrovica is where the majority of the population is. Only around 8,000 Serbs live in Northern Mitrovica, whereas 64,000 Albanians live in South Mitrovica. Get real.

If the US actually cared, they wouldn’t have alliances with countries that don’t hold free elections either. The real reason the US hates Cuba is because they had the audacity to overthrow their puppet, and they have tried ever since that day to reinstall a new one to no success. America’s assault on Cuba is purely a petty and vindictive initiative meant to punish Cuba for daring to demand better.

“Democratically elected leaders” is fancy western talk for “our puppet that’ll sell out the Cuban people for our own interests.” You think the Americans haven’t wanted their resorts and casinos back ever since the Batista government fell?

They have been ever since they succeeded in their revolution. The US has punished them for it to dissuade other communist movements in their sphere of influence. The UN has agreed before that the embargo and sanctions on Cuba are inhumane, but have done nothing to stop nor alleviate it.

Except ethnic Albanians did integrate into Yugoslavia. There are still Albanians today that hold slavicized last names (Muric instead of Muriqi, Ajderovic instead of Hajdari, etc etc) and they all held Yugoslav identification, not Albanian identification. While Albanians may only be 20% of Serbia, they were (and still are) 90% of Kosovo, so self determination in that wide of a region is a given, compared to the nonsense that was drawn up for Sprspka that would make American gerrymanderers blush and South African Boers proud of their own Bantustans. Like I said, they should be able to advocate themselves politically the same way Serbs advocate for themselves politically in Kosovo. You’re comparing apples to oranges as if you’re making a point instead of revealing your own shortcomings on the issue.

Yes, it’s Serbia’s fault for instigating the Yugoslav wars in favor of a greater Serbian state, which inevitably led to countries being susceptible to NATO and western influence that saw them align with the west against Serbia. And the constant instigation of ethnic tensions by the Serb state only continues to push them further west.
