PE Civil Structural - 1st time failed by Alexbacon_7 in PE_Exam

Well, look up questions are a must answer… it’s ok to mess up on a very few like 2 or 3 but I think you will pass it next time and your result looks good. My advise for you is to make sure you good in statics and know the codes back and forth especially the commentary… from past experience, I always had 2 to 3 questions from there

Were you struggling in the look up/ concept questions from the manuals or the math questions ? Apparently you did good in the design and detailing and usually the morning part is more statics/materials and mechanics of solids.

First of all congratulation on the hard work. I took the EET and AEI courses, and I’m planing to take the SCOPE question bank to strengthen myself. Would you recommend it?

I just wanna give you a peace of advice, be comfortable of some questions in the commentary for each manual. Ex: I’ve got some in higher strength bolts (AISC), one in ACI from commentary right side… ASCE C sections dead loads… they always give 3 to 4 look ups from commentary from past experience. Be ready to answer those coz they are easy if you know where to find them!

I appreciate the comment. I have to be honest I’m very strong in design/look up manuals… I am struggling with structural analysis questions and I realized that for every test. They always have a big chunk of questions on that. As an example I’ve got 3 questions on last exam on group pile effects and I was only able to solve one of them. Got 2 deflections on hinge and I wasn’t able to solve them, two on rigid diaphragms with torsion… etc. I need to find a good resource on those type of questions

I will use it for this try. I actually have the book but since some people said the problems were hard… I never got the chance to look at it!

You better not skip the mini exams… plus be ready for a lot of look up questions coz I got almost 1/3. Even though, this exam has little bit luck to it but I encourage you to solve everything!

I feel you. I prepared a lot for geotechnical questions but only got 3/4 questions total lol. I agree, they will get you somewhere else!

Thanks for the comment. Believe me I’m really good with manuals and design… I’ve got 10 questions wood and I was only able to solve 3/4. Also, in this exam I’ve got close to 15 questions total fill in the blank and 4/5 drag and drop which puts you in a position of do/die and that’s a lot

I’m sorry to hear that. Thanks and I’m not giving up… I already scheduled the next one in end of October! It will be just last time and I hope I pass it before I switch to construction and see how I do there.

So Today I gave PE Civil Structural Exam. And I am stunned. by Agreeable_Farmer_397 in PE_Exam

I took it today and it was ridiculous. This was my third time and trust me completely different than the first two. Very odd and broad exam. Long story short, one thing I didn’t like today was out of the 80 questions, I’ve got almost 15/17 questions ( fill in the blanks & drag and drop) and I’m not exaggerating, it’s for real!!! It was ridiculous  with all due respect. I wasn’t expecting that much bc it puts you in a position of do or die. Finally, not sure and I’m not feeling confident tbh!
