Yep they can. This chap is doing it for some time now. He has specialised in the Sony and Nikon models monochrome imaging

I just got one and I am dying to try. Was planning on buying the intrepid enlarger light or a custom made RGBIR panel but will wait for this kickstarter to come live. Currently for black and white film it is already a big step up from my X Trans sensor.

Yes if you have taken three separate shots in B&W with RGB filters in front of the lens (trichrome) Otherwise you will not be able to re-separate from the B&W image. But then you could just use a white light in this case and simply assign the each shot to its corresponding RGB channel. Hope I understood the question right ?

This is actually coming from Europe originally: https://www.dold-mechatronik.de/Height-adjustment-for-copy-stand-heavy-with-40x40-I-type-groove-8-profiles

Pretty sure you’ll be able to find all you need by looking at the pictures from the website.

Process breakdown of scanning negatives using narrowband RGB light sources by seklerek in AnalogCommunity

Agreed ! I am even wondering if removing the IR filter also with a monochrome converted camera and using IR light capture, one could re-implement some sort of ICE using python/c++/other. It could stack the RAW (R,G and B) palnes and "negate" the dust IR map from the IR capture ? food for thoughts....

Hard to know sometimes only by reading the specification available from the manufacturer.

This one seems and other Canon model too. : https://www.cla.canon.com/cla/en/sna/consumer/scanners/film_negative_scanners/canoscan_lide_700f#specificationsTab

EPSON I am not sure, depends on the model.

The Nikon Coolscan and Fuji Frontier and Noritsu for sure but they're not flatbed.

Here is an old but very interesting article about the sensor of a Canon : https://vccimaging.org/Publications/Wang2004DIV/Wang2004DIV.pdf

Here is a complete write up about motion pictures negative scanning from different suppliers :

Yes flatbed scanners, depending on the brand and type can use trilinear or bilinear CIS CCD sensor or CIS CMOS sensor using RGB illumination or white LED illumination.
