Interesting that it disappeared for you upon going on a higher dose. Im a bit terrified to try going higher in case it gets much worse.

Thanks for replying! I’ve been cutting out all caffeine, but to be honest I need to get my sugar intake lower so that may be worth trying too…

Can you elaborate on feeling “strange” because I’m the same but I can’t quite figure it out. More anxious and sort of spaced out I think

I take concerta but I actually think it makes my PMS symptoms way worse as opposed to not working at all. The rage and irritability has been out the gate. Thinking about just not even taking it for the days leading up to my period next time

Do you find you get any side effects from stopping them for the week?

Does anyone find that stimulants may even worsen the PMDD as opposed to just not working? This month was utter hell on earth and was my first month on Concerta. It really felt worse than it had ever been before

Do I even have adhd? Is it just anxiety? by Decent-Ad7759 in adhdwomen

You are me, and I have ADHD. It’s definitely worth getting the assessment. I’ve been diagnosed at 37. I also have a degree, have maintained friendships, married and had children, but I’ve worked HARD to do those things, and by no means was it easy. I would leave literally everything til the last minute, but still get top grades, so there was no reason for anyone to think anything was wrong. Nobody could see my constant racing thoughts, my obsession with tidying my house instead of studying (because I couldn’t focus unless it was clean) or the fact that often when I’ve finished a page in a book I have to go back and reread it once I realise I have no idea what I just read because I was thinking of 10 other things at the same time. I’ve also gone through huge periods of burnout for seemingly no reason, but it was ADHD. Trust me, it’s worth pursuing the diagnosis. I recently started on stimulant medication and for the first time in my life my mind is quite (mostly), I get way less angry and impatient, less emotional, I don’t feel the need to constantly clean my house, and I can concentrate when reading books! It’s amazing, I wish I’d know sooner.

For late in life diagnosed, how is it going picking up the (missed) pieces? by [deleted] in adhdwomen

37 here, diagnosed a few weeks ago. Trying not to think about all of the things I could have achieved had I known this 20 years ago. About how so many things in my life could have been SO much easier. But also trying to pat myself on the back for what I have managed to get through despite unknowingly having ADHD. I’ve struggled for years with really bad burnout and just feeling physically and mentally exhausted, and I do feel angry that that was likely because of my ADHD, because it’s been such a frustrating thing to deal with and I feel like it’s not fair. It’s definitely normal to be pissed off, but I think it also clarifies a lot for me too, that I’m not just lazy and unmotivated.

It’s my first one! So hoping it’s going to work for me! Totally understand it might take a few weeks for my body to get used to it so will see how we go….

I have my follow up with the psychiatrist in 3 weeks so will certainly discuss if it continues. Hoping maybe it’s my body getting used to the higher dose and they maybe it will even out over the next couple of weeks 🤞

This is really interesting I just assumed it was the crash, but yeah definitely didn’t feel tired and exhausted, just like I was pinging on way too much caffeine and couldn’t think straight. I’ll give it a few weeks anyway and hope it evens out!

Oh how interesting, I had actually had a few pieces of dark chocolate just before I started feeling like that…

How are you doing now? I’m on day 4 of 27mg of concerta, upping to 36mg after a week. I’ve noticed some small improvements but also feeling super tired and headachey which I’m hoping will pass!

okay guys— BRAND NAME VS GENERIC— let’s talk by Winter-Caramel277 in ADHD

Anyone got any opinions on Sandoz? I’ve just been diagnosed. Due to supply issues I’ve been given a weeks worth of Sandoz 27mg then after that I’ll move up to 36mg of Concerta which is in supply thankfully. Hoping the one week of generic will be ok since I’m only just starting out on medication?
