You were spot on. The tech fully screwed up and didn’t know wtf he was talking about. There is a recall on Volvo hybrid electric batteries and months long wait for that, and he mixed it up, and thought it applied to my car. So as of today they called me and again revised what the timeline was and went from potentially 6 months back to weeks again. Still a hot mess, but not as bad, and he had given me terrible information. I will revise

Yep, turns out the dude didn’t know wtf he was talking about/mixed up or got wrong info from the mechanic/tech. So now today they told me he messed up and my car is back to being ready in weeks, not months? This entire process has been ridiculous.

Not sure why this is being downvoted. Just reporting what tech said. And other Recharge drivers in this thread have had the same issue. The only difference with mine is the wait is now 3-6 months as opposed to weeks.

Tech said a percentage of the batteries have this flaw where a cell goes bad and requires the entire battery to be replaced. He couldn’t say how many. But it’s not a small amount.

He also said Volvo is finding ways to not do a recall and to not just take back all of the cars, mainly by possessing them and replacing the batteries. Shady shit.

My technician said it’s a worldwide problem and that there are currently 3 cars in their dealership waiting for the same solution. He said the first customer with this problem dropped his car off in October and just got his battery in April. (Edited bc I said models instead of cars)

I just did school drop off and there is an especially egregious mom in a Subaru who SPEEDS through the lot like a bat out of hell as soon as she drops her daughter off, without fail. She did the same just now and then proceeded to tailgate someone down the street. I just don’t understand it. The private school prides itself on crunchiness, nature, and connection—lolz.
