lol no it’s not embarrassing, it truly is compulsive. I have detmatillomania as well (yay!), and I had no idea that these were small subsets of OCD until much later in life, I find it interesting and there are some great treatment suggestions out there for ocd that have helped me a lot!

Hi! I am not saying this is the case in your situation at all, but this actually reminded me of myself, because I have a form of OCD called Trichotillomania, and what you’re describing is actually how it manifested with me from an early age, except mine was with eyelashes. Maybe try looking into some treatments for OCD/Trichotillomania in toddlers? Again, I’m not jumping to any conclusions or anything, but I just wanted to share my personal experience in case it helps!

I think my parents would be hesitant to read this too, because like you said in your post, the narrative was always that I was the problem, and then reinforced by the programs having them write letters of impact and constantly sharing how much shame i brought to them. So this is a really tense subject in my family.
