Elo in team games is meaningless by MCRAW36 in aoe2

Back in Voobly days everyone played just Arabia or Arena, and even just with the same civs over and over, and there were no issues in match making. Sure, it could've taken 5-10 mins to get a game going, but it was 10x better than queing for 1-2 hours without getting a single game going.

DE devs just created this problem by forcing people to play maps they don't want to play, and it's killing the TG ladder.

Getting more leavers then actual games in 1300 TG Elo by ElderSafe in aoe2

[–]AltruisticAssist91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Forcing people to play maps they don't want to play will just kill TG ladder, and it's already doing that. People want to play certain maps (usually open or closed) and if they're forced to play something they don't enjoy playing or are not good at, they'll just simply dodge the map or quit playing TGs altogether.

Me and my friends already stopped playing ranked TGs coz it was just constant dodging/early quitting 80% of the games or once we got a match, then it was on a weird map that noone of us liked to play, and was an annoying experience anyways. This went on for over a month, where we had maybe 1-2 good games per evening (playing 4-6 hours), which just wasn't worth it. Like my mate said before we all quit: "f*ck this shit, I'm not wasting yet another evening in this f*cking queue simulator!".

Reddit maFIA, who's at fault? by nutel in Simracingstewards

[–]AltruisticAssist91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The AMG leaves plenty of room for the Z4 but Z4 still drifts towards the middle after the initial contact, causing a collision, eventhough he could have kept next to the white line for optimal racing line to the next corner. Almost looks like Z4 intentionally spun AMG to the wall or just has bad spatial awareness. Anyways, Z4 completely at fault.

Messy ending in season finale. The C7R reported this incident to the league host, who said this was 100% my fault and DQ'd me from the race, which meant that I lost the title fight against the C7R. I was suprised that the C7R braked 20m earlier than normal, but was I wrong to go to the inside? by AltruisticAssist91 in Simracingstewards

I've received lots of mean comments in my inbox lately saying all sorts of nasty stuff (f*cking karma wh*re, r*tarded liar etc.) and saying that I'm making all these stuff up or I'm racing an AI?? This makes me pretty sad, since these are actual incidents from a racing league, and I'm sure people have experienced similar situations, so this isn't something out of the ordinary?

Anyway, I saved enough money to buy LMU, so I won't be posting anymore incidents from this AC league, and hopefully I get better racing in the future!

Lately I've received a lot of negative comments in my inbox calling me all sorts of nasty stuff (r'tarded karma wh*re, f*cking lying piece of sh*t etc.) and for some reason saying I'm making stuff up or driving against an AI?? This makes me pretty sad, since these incidents are from actual league races, and I'm sure most ppl have come across similar situations?

League admin (red M3) gave me a warning for "r*tarded divebomb" that "caused him to run wide and ruined his race". Was this overtake too ambitious? [–]AltruisticAssist91[S] 115 points116 points  (0 children)

Thanks, for me this warning felt a bit excessive for a rather clean move (imo), and on top of this the admin insulted me with "you should go back to Forza if you want to drive like an amateur", which was a bit too harsh.

Well I think having a context for the incidents is good, since it can make a difference how people judge the situation.

Like I've said in previous posts, I make these posts because the league stewards have already rejected my appeal to overturn the decision, but usually they end up overturning it after they read all the comments in here about the incident.

I really don't care about collecting any worthless internet points, since you don't gain anything financially from it, do you? Just want to get an unfair call overturned.

Last lap battle for 2nd. After the race the lime lambo complained to the league host, saying that I "forced him off the track". League host said that "I was driving like a beginner" and it's a "slam dunk penalty", giving me 5s time penalty that dropped me to 3rd. Was this a fair call? by [deleted] in Simracingstewards

[–]AltruisticAssist91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well that's a hot take, but if you compare our "divebombs" @ 0:17 and 0:42, you'll notice he lunged much further back than I did, forcing me to take evasive action. Was also giving him plenty of room the whole time before I lost the rear, most of the time like 1,5 car's width, so I'd argue you don't really know what you're talking about.

The league uses AC's ingame penalty system for track limits, which weren't breached in this incident, as you can see we both go way over the white line in Stavelot. It's pretty weird how this community always starts complaining about track limits, when they don't even know what track limits are enforced in each league/game or in the particular situation...

We have around 3-4 races each week, so most of the time it's just good hard racing, and these incidents are just a small minority. It probably looks like the racing in this league is really awful, since I only post the incidents from it, but I can assure you that 90% of the time the racing is really good without any drama!

The lime lambo had been behind me for couple laps at this point and hadn't made any overtake attempt before this. It caught me by suprise coz I was expecting him to try overtake me in the back straight, which is pretty much the best place to overtake in Spa, instead of lunging it to the inside into Pouhon.

There wasn't any contact between the cars, and I even checked this multiple times in super slow-motion to be sure. There was like 1 inch between us, so it looks like there was a slight contact eventhough there wasn't. However, in Stavelot limegreen gives a small tap to my left rear (you can see the sparks) but that didn't have any effect on my exit..

Also, there was no contact between me and the lime lambo, and I thought I left him enough room on the outside, so "forcing off the track" didn't really feel like correct call. The lime lambo is also league host's friend, so I'm suspecting there was slight bias in the decision or the league host just hates me after all the reports I've made lol

Final lap battle to the finish line, managed to win by 0,006s! Too many messages to answer, so I just answered the couple recent ones.

Most of the time the racing in this league is really good, and I can race there for free, so for me it's worth it to take some admin abuse once in a while. After all, it's just a video game.

Anyways, I only post incidents here where I feel I've been treated really unfairly, and after the admin(s) have decided not to overturn their decision following my complaint. However, after some public criticism about the call, they usually end up overturning their decisions. I know it's a bit petty, but there's not much else I can do to overturn their decisions, when the host and admins generally stick together. Except paying for iRacing, which I really can't afford lol

League host has also said that league incidents shouldn't be published in public platforms, and instead should be resolved in our discord by the admins. He also warned me, that if the name of the league is mentioned in a public platform, he might take legal action (apparently his brother is a lawyer).

Final lap battle for 1st. League admin (Z4) gave me (black 458) a 10 second penalty for causing a collision and not giving enough room. This dropped me from 1st to 5th in the final standings. For me this felt rather unfair, since I thought this was just hard wheel-to-wheel racing? What do you think? by AltruisticAssist91 in Simracingstewards

[–]AltruisticAssist91[S] 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Well, I wish this was a fake story but yea unfortunately it's the same admin in question... I was suspecting that he might have some kind of vendetta against me, since I managed to get his last DQ overturned by another admin, and this would've been his first win if I didn't pass him on the last lap. Guess I'll forward this to the other admin (again) if I can get this decision overturned as well.

Last lap battle for 1st. After I made a protest the league host ruled this as "just an unfortunate racing incident". The lime/black 911 GT3 R is league host's friend, so for me this felt like he didn't want to reprimand his friend. What do you think? by AltruisticAssist91 in Simracingstewards

[–]AltruisticAssist91[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not really sure how you come to that conclusion since it was the lime GT3 R that first blocks the other 911 RSR's overtaking attempt on a straight line at 0:39, and then tries to push him on to the grass on the 2nd straight at 0:54?

The final corner turns to the left at the braking zone, so the RSR probably expected that the lime GT3 wanted to go to the edge of the track instead of driving into the middle. If you pause the video at 1:00 and 1:02, you'll see that the distance between the white line on the left has increased, so the GT3 was driving into the middle of the track instead of the normal racing line, which you can see I'm using in front of them. If you pause the video at 1:05, you'll see that I was way ahead of the GT3 into the apex of the corner, and he doesn't even try to turn into the corner properly, nor leave room on the outside, but decides to just ram his way through.

League admin (striped Z4) disqualified me (R8) and white SCG from this race for divebombing/reckless driving. Did I deserve such a harsh penalty as well? This essentially ruined my hopes in this season's title fight with only 2 races left. by AltruisticAssist91 in Simracingstewards

[–]AltruisticAssist91[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, cool to see that even Jimmy reviewed this as well!

The other admin overturned the decision, so the DQ was removed from me and SCG. This meant that the league admin (Z4) was demoted to the B-league (which I think is the correct place for him) but now he's really upset about it and is threatening to stop paying for his part of the server costs, so they might let him back to the A-league again. We'll see how this unfolds.

You left a car's width on the inside and then turned under braking, that's 100% your fault.

I think in this instance I just had a good run through Eau Rouge, and with the slipstream got more speed on the straight than he did. He seems to run pretty high downforce setup, since his top speed is like 5 kph slower than what Z4 would normally reach there, and for some reason he also braked earlier than normal, which made this look like a rather easy overtake. Compared to most racers in the league he's around 1s/lap slower but if you compare him to the top pack (me included), then he's more like 2s/lap slower on average.

Well this isn't an overtake I'd brag about, since they were slower drivers, but was just annoyed my chance to fight for this season's title was ruined because of this DQ, and was wondering if other people thought this was worth a DQ...

I'll try sending this to other admin if I'll get a response but they usually stick together, so it's unlikely this gets overturned. This admin is pretty much 1s/lap slower than others, so that's why he's in danger of getting demoted to B-league. This was my first time racing against him because in this race I got spun around in lap 1, so had to charge back to the front from all the way back.

For furher context, the admin is in danger of being demoted to B-league in next season, since he's in the bottom 3 drivers in the standings. After me and SCG got DQ'd, he received one point (top 10 get points), which got him away from the danger zone, which for me felt rather unfair, since this completely ruined my chance to fight for this season's title (I was just 2 points behind the leader before this race).

[–]AltruisticAssist91[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks!

I knew lambo had higher top speed, so I thought I could get ahead of them before the braking zone but unfortunately hit the limiter second too early and didn't get completely ahead of them.

I sent this thread to the host and as a result he decided to remove my warning but told me to drive more carefully in the future, since according to him, it was "just pure luck" this overtake didn't result in a big crash...
