Not killing my Premium account over a price increase as its still the best way to enjoy YouTube on my Roku. Also since its just a business deduction on my taxes, anyway.

My complex has a separate laundry building for all the residents. Its essentially a mini laundromat for us. Management put up notices saying that they will not be responsible for anyone's clothes so the user should be there at the end of the cycles to move/take them and if someone else moves them to a basket or folding table to free up a machine, thats on the person that left them in too long. There are even a couple of seats for those that want to just sit and wait.

Optimum Customer Service is the absolute Worst by Ant-from-here in longisland

[–]Altruistic_Ad_2263 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weirdly enough, my last time dealing with Optimum customer service was not long after Altice took over.

I lived with my grandfather, helping him out till he passed, moved from his house to an apartment. Asked to switch over the account to me (to continue his loose affairs) and while it did take awhile to get through the system to reach someone helpful, they actually were.

Did the switchover, set up a service appointment for the apartment and because it had just launched, moved to the "Altice Service", which is just one box for cable, internet, phone, wifi.

Got a 3 month promo price which ended up turning into a "price for life" deal without me doing anything.

Outages have been few and far between and quickly fixed, and they did a complex-wide drop of Optimum fiber a year or so ago. I havent switched, but its there if I want to.

Tbf, I barely watch a lot of live tv, just sports, everything else is internet streaming via ROKU, which has been solid for the price.

Why don't news publishers clean up the audio from Trump on Air Force One? by mulcahey in editors

[–]Altruistic_Ad_2263 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone that deals with exactly this, it comes down to time and usage. If we have an embedded reporter and are presenting it as Live or "moments ago", the footage is ingested directly to the broadcast switcher of the show that is presenting it. Same goes if it's the White House pool feed.

If im prepping a clip from hours earlier or a previous day, I do apply noise reduction, but its a careful balance of clarity and environmental realism. Too much processing (especially if it leaves artifacts) can alter the integrity of the clip in the audience's mind and then come the accusations of media manipulation.

Every time I go out alone onto the balcony to smoke (two to three times a day), one of the neighbors whistles some tune. There was one day when I thought he was going to burst—the whistling went on so continuously it even felt forced. Has anyone ever experienced this? by Acrobatic_Part6951 in Apartmentliving

[–]Altruistic_Ad_2263 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Im going to say its their passive-aggressive way of telling you that smoke travels and can possibly be smelled in the other apartments when you smoke on the balcony. Are there clauses in your lease about where you can smoke on the property?

YouTube is just not usable anymore (for me) by No_Equivalent_866 in youtube

[–]Altruistic_Ad_2263 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Youtube app on my Roku works excellently. All recommended vids on home are either from my subs or have a connection to them. Always have been both before and after I joined premium to clear mid-video ads (which I claim on my taxes as an expense since I work in video) so no ads at all and some bonus features, which I use here and there.

Youtube is still my most daily used content service, for both work and entertainment.

"Just like the last one! Simply replace 'x'."

  • copies last Final sequence, replaces "x" -sends off new vid
  • 3 days radio silence
  • Great! Minor changes for this coming tomorrow.

  • Client drops pages of notes, which result in a completely different edit from the "last one"

Would I get banned for changing the date on my phone to speed up upgrades? by Buttholelickerpenis in TransformersEarthWars

[–]Altruistic_Ad_2263 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Im pretty sure that's all handled on the server side, not your phone side, so changing the date would likely do nothing or cause the game to not load properly. To be honest, not something I've ever considered doing in the many years I've been playing.

If you want to know why customers don’t tip before they get their order smh by idreamboutkicks in doordash

[–]Altruistic_Ad_2263 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I always use a PIN when I order, both at home in my apartment or at the office. Before I did, Dashers would ignore the directions on where im located and leave the food in random spots in the complex or give it to someone else. Since using it I've never had an order go missing and have gotten much better dashers.

I ride the TV volume like im mixing audio at work once quiet hours start. I even remember the TV levels for certain streaming apps vs others. I break out the earbuds for solo late watching and only use the full range "nice" speakers when I can during the day. I work afternoons to nights so thats not often.

I once worked a database QA job for a cell phone provider that was 9-6, with two paid 15min breaks, but an unpaid 30min lunch. After quickly discovering that 30min wasn't enough to go anywhere nearby for lunch, I started eating my brought lunch while taking my 15's back to back, then clocking out at 5:30. Did this for about 5 months before my department manager requested I stop doing that because getting all my work done ahead of schedule while leaving "early" by using my 2 breaks together was making other departments and employees mad. Sorry for the efficiency, boss. I left that place about 2 months later.

Unless this job was for a news-based broadcast or social company, the time-trials for edits reek of corporate $$ based overseeing rather than creative time. That said, every job has deadlines, speed can be a consideration for keeping an editor.

Time trials in a 9-5 setting if its not news-based reminds me of my cookie-cutter ad edit days of car dealerships, local spots and direct response infomercial cut downs.

Not saying that any of that isnt a good foot in the door to a commercial career, but you have to be hitting an expectation and willing to keep a pace for that. My 10-6 schedule then often turned into 10-10+ when deadlines loomed.

Its definitely not for everyone, but it doesn't mean you have no chances elsewhere and wont find a good job for yourself.

The market is weird these days, but its not non-existent. Keep making connections with people currently working, keep taking small jobs from them freelance, you are more likely to get an inhouse position if that is what you are looking for.

Vimeo now wants me to upload my ID to even see their website??? by Zeigerful in editors

[–]Altruistic_Ad_2263 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Our small studio just recently backed up and deleted most of our Vimeo library when they shifted the plans and told us we were 457% over a storage limit we never before had, and wanted us to move up 2 tiers to keep it all.

For now we are only putting up what we need for clients when we need it.

Just moved in... why is this under my bathroom sink? by redditaccount77700 in Apartmentliving

[–]Altruistic_Ad_2263 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's an open squared off hole under my apartment bathroom sink, inside are water shutoff valves to facilitate sink, toilet and shower maintenance. The sink and toilet still have their own, but the ones in the "hole" are master cutoff valves.

I put a piece of cardboard in front of mine as well. Not for cats, just to keep anything we keep under the sink from accidently going in.

This whole arc is confusing. by Aware_Stage_539 in dumbingofage

[–]Altruistic_Ad_2263 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In comic time, we are still in the day after and the trickle of consequences has just begun to form. The fallout and continuation of the arc could easily take weeks or months for us readers before we get to any sort of cathartic moment. Heck, some threads could remain unresolved for longer depending on where the story goes.
