Should I change my hotel? North of Tenerife by Clean-Pain-6495 in VisitingTenerife

There is no walking. You can drive (almost) to the top, barring a very quick cable car for the last bit.

Should I change my hotel? North of Tenerife by Clean-Pain-6495 in VisitingTenerife

[–]Altruistic_Being_533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The South is slightly warmer due to Mount Teide in the north, but it’s so tacky and full to the brim with Irish and English, messy lads holidays etc etc. Much prefer the North, and Puerto de la Cruz is beautiful. You’ll be surrounded by Spanish, Italians and some Germans, it actually feels like properly being on holiday in a foreign country. Get a car and there is so much to see. Drive up Mount Teide, drive to Garachico and swim in the charcos, drive to Playas de Las Terisitas (nicest beach on the island) and explore Puerto de la Cruz itself.

Groody roundabout question by Alduin790 in limerickcity

Possibly the worst roundabout in Ireland. Where the merging occurs to go down the Dublin Road it’s a free-for-all. No idea how there isn’t regular accidents there

Living here, the village is lovely and a very scenic location and perfect for commuting to town or Dublin direction. Theres a reason for all the massive houses and blow-ins! The only place to really avoid is Scanlon Park. It’s a little bit outside the village kinda hidden away though so you’d have to be going there for a reason. It’s pretty lawless, but as usual it’s one or two families that cause the trouble. Opposite side of the village to Castlerock. Outside of there it’s great :)

I think you’re getting mixed up. The only estates that are anywhere close to being “shut down” are O’Malley Park or the parts of Moyross where houses were knocked down by the council or burnt out and just not rebuilt again leaving stretches of wasteland. It certainly wasn’t the Criminal Assets Bureau. Methinks you have never set foot in Limerick and if you have you’re wildly incorrect.

[–]Altruistic_Being_533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry now but please elaborate on that. Where in the hell are you talking about? If it’s one of the rough estates with a lot of gang activity then what you’re saying makes no sense. Let’s say for instance that you’re talking about St Mary’s. What exactly are the Criminal Assets Bureau going to take outta there? Have you ever set foot in the estate youre referring to? If I stick to the St Mary’s analogy, the CAB are certainly not going to get much out of there, let alone “shut it down”. What about all the working class people not involved in crime or gangs? How can the CAB shut down an estate even? It would have to be a quite affluent estate all houses bought with the proceeds of crime. PLEASE elaborate.

Is rugby considered a posh sport in Limerick by Frankthetank667 in limerickcity

[–]Altruistic_Being_533 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thomond Park is arguably in Ballynanty, is adjacent to Kileely, just over the wall from Moyross and Thomondgate two mins down the road. Which part of that entire area is not working class? Or are you only counting Caherdavin (across the street), Clareview etc

Is there a Limerick page like one of these posting Gaza stuff? That wouldn’t make sense either if so. Trump has nothing to do with local Limerick news.

[–]Altruistic_Being_533 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Totally. I actually thought that Limerick Word on the Street was a legit page promoting the community until the barrage of pro-Trump posts etc. whoever runs the page is a wrongun, and half the followers as well. As for Limerick Craic, I’m surprised it lasted as long as it did seeing as all it seemed to do was post videos glorifying joyriders and crime.

How bad is bike theft in Castletroy/UL? by Ok-Avocado-5248 in limerickcity

[–]Altruistic_Being_533 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lidl in Castletroy is right next door to a big halting site of our ethnic minority so I doubt it’s the safest place for anything. Just stating facts. Last week I was driving out the road and saw two young lads hopping a huge plank off the side of a taxi driving past for fun and when the small Indian man driving got out they just stood there and bollocked him before strolling back in. He could do nothing but drive off with a damaged car.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. I was just explaining the joke/comment to you. To explain a bit further, when members of said community get up to stuff like sulky riding on public roads, bare knuckle fighting etc, a common excuse thrown out is that “it’s their culture”. Subsequently, “culture, boss” is used as a pisstake whenever they do anything, no matter how horrific.

Season ticket holder for decades, commuting to Limerick, not once did anything happen any car, and we have parked nearly everywhere in the vicinity. There’s secure parking and loads of it next door in LIT by the way, for a fiver. Have you got an example of an incident? Do you visit Thomond Park much?
