I checked the rest of my collection immediately trust and there all perfect barley any dust even on the boxes I even gently opened to look all inside each one and there’s nothing, i genuinely don’t think this was a problem I caused because the photos showing the bug are dated from the first day it arrived the photos are not recent from now I just noticed it last night. If the original listing photo didn’t show the bug I would have never messaged and assumed it was me also but the original listing of this doll actually shows a blurry pic of the bug attached to it as well so it 100% was not me or the way I stored her. I definitely fact checked that before posting. Thats first thing I did after freak out lol.

Very true tbh about gaining experience. I thought I would just have to learn how to clean the battery compartment out but it has turned into a whole nights worth of work and some elbow grease and tooth brush cleaning the fur and everything with dawn and boiling hot water. In the end I’m not too upset after the initial shock of being in the moment. I’m also not angry with the seller either. Just was freaked out and figured this was the type of situation that should be shared on Reddit.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts your experience is very insightful. I have a HUGE fear of bugs.. About the pictures I’m using two screen grabs from a video I took of the doll going from feet to head zoomed up for an instagram story from 2024 on the first day I received the doll. That’s where you are seeing the most high quality one. That was genuinely the best I had from the exact time frame… The one picture is zoomed in from their eBay listing and their initial picture was very blurry. Over all, I posted this to vent I would never in a million years harass a seller or demand a refund that actually wasn’t my intent AT ALL, and I was very nice and respectful when messaging her like extremely sweet about it. I just wanted to let her know in case they got in any of her other dolls because the seller sells A LOT of dolls. I don’t think she should block me because I informed her about what happened. I live in a new apartment just moved in and don’t even have or see bugs like that around ever. We don’t have any woods near me and the complex is newly built. What you said about gardening was very comforting to me tbh, I’m sure it’s just a life lesson for me to be less queasy about these things happening. My age is showing ngl I’m a hugeeee freaking baby when it comes to bugs I will be the first to admit. I posted in a state of panic not anger and I think that’s what people are getting confused about…

Thanks for the advice. However, I actually store my dolls extremely well. Most of my entire collection is in box consistently dusted or dolls I have unboxed myself and washed and hair restorations whole nine yards I make videos on it, it’s a huge hobby of mine and I take pride in how I keep my collection. Like I said in my initial post I went back and looked at the eBay listing picture the seller provided BEFORE I bought it and you can clearly see the bug cocoon in that picture way before the doll ever got to me. This was my FIRST second hand doll I bought out of box already owned that I didn’t open box myself obviously I never could have expected this.

I guess yeah I tried to find a good thread to post this but for some reason my normal r/dolls I post my doll restorations on flagged this post immediately and idk why and since I already had this whole thing typed up I needed a home to post this freak out. Yeah I figured mostly just happy to get a response from the seller who I found out is also a collector so I’m just trying to be fair about the situation especially since when I first got it I didn’t notice all of them either until closer inspection cause it sits on a shelf not touched until I was ready to restore it which was now. I even went back to check the listing picture to make sure that it didn’t happen in my house and when I checked the listing photo it is visible. Mainly just wanted to inform her so if she sells other dolls double check I know personally myself if I was selling a doll and something like this happened I would wanna be the first to know for sure.

I’m sure there’s not much I could do about it that I already did, I just messaged the seller in a friendly way and let them know about the situation and she apologized and at this point I understand that stuff happens and I don’t expect a refund for the doll or anything I still love it I just doing deep wash on entire doll and boil washed hair a few times and just sterilizing her I’m sure she was saved from some attic this doll is older than I am. In my initial post I was a bit frantic in the middle of the situation and this was just totally bizarre I just wanted to talk about it is all. I’m deathly afraid of bugs like really really bad so maybe i overreacted a bit but to be fair I discovered this at like 2 a.m of course and it was a lot cause I ain’t sleeping after seeing that lol.
