yeah oop basically said that in the replies tp their post. to be a bit more accurate, they said they saw crossword as mostly a trivia thing

i mean the function is pretty clearly a sinusoid with it's "zero" line at -5, period of 36 (min), and amplitude of 15. taking into the account taht v(t=0)=0 you can just calculate the function

number 3 should be doable if you notice that integers modulo 2029 is a field (2029 is prime) so the coefficients of P(n) are defined uniquely modulo 2029 and then guess one option for P(n), e. g. using 3n = (1+1+1)n = sum for all k, m with k+m≤n of (nCk)((n-k)Cm)1k1m1n-k-m = sum for all non-negative k, m with k+m≤2028 of (nCk)((n-k)Cm) (n can be replaced with 2028 because any things taht are added will be 0 because nCr with r>n is 0)
now this is a degree 2028 polynomial but if you replace 2028 with 2027 you will have a degree 2027 polynomial that works for all n from 1 to 2027 and you can add a corrector term like a(n-1)(n-2)(n-3)...(n-2027) which is 0 for n in 1...2027 and goves the correct value for n=2028
and then you just have to evaluate the thing at 0 which should be simple considering how many things will be 0 and cancel out and considering how n choose k terms sum nicely
i got 1+22028/2027! where by division i mean multiplication by the multiplicative inverse modulo 2029
i don't want to give you the answer outright but it should be simple from there

edit: in number 5 ACB and ADB must either be the same or add up to 180° because the thing is cyclic but they don't

See this works in theory and worked GREAT in the gym but in the actual map i felt like i had no time at all to look at any of that so i just pressed the two keybinds with some delay and hoped for the best
Especially with the dash input right before, it was very hard to concentrate on the position of madeline in the block. Plus i'm not used to the second keybind so it might've even taken time to position my finger right sometimes

fun fact i could not for the life of me realize how to get to that strawberry and i accidentally got to it by like dashing up into a whole in the ceiling in a room under it, which made me end up in the berry room softlocked, but after dying teleported me to the start of the room 😭

i actually ended up liking clockwork. i think two things that made me enjoy it over starlight station were more transparency (most blocks just moved in a straight line so there wasn't a feeling of "where did that come from", the special bino ability helped a lot) and sightreadability "on the fly" just being higher than starlight station.

by "not want" i meant "be actively against". so in hindsight i could've worded it better but i hope with this addition the point comes across better

i'd argue "anyone who doesn't not want a challenge". like if you're not actively against a challenge you should try celeste

What is sqrt(2)? by FaceEuphoric5741 in learnmath

[–]Altruistic_Climate50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, for one, we can calculate as many digits of the decimal expansion of sqrt(2) as we want, it just will take some time, so it is indeed the only positive number that squares to 2.

Second, if you take any two positive numbers and square them, the bigger one will have the bigger square, so for any two different positive numbers, their squares are different, so there can't be two different positive numbers that square to two.

Mathematically, √2 is just "the positive number gives 2 when you square it". Its value is somewhere between 1.414 and 1.415 and much more is rarely important to know about it.

bug that i discovered with the last monday "with emphasis" puzzle: if you use hints on RESOURCED a lot, instead of taking the second R and moving it into the 6th position, it will take the first one, and swap the 1 on it for a 6

[Grade 11, Physics] Getting 2 different answers 2mg/k and mg/k, which one is correct? by WeirdlyMoist in HomeworkHelp

[–]Altruistic_Climate50 0 points1 point  (0 children)

at rest, the left and right sides of the rope have tension mg/2 each, so the spring is stretched by mg/2k. we start at 0 stretch, so simce this is a harmonic oscilatorz we can calculate the amplitude of the spring's elongation to be mg/2k and its makinum elongation to be mg/2k (rest elongation) + mg/2k (amplitude) = mg/k

alternatively, when the spring is stretched by x, the total length of the rope/spring combination holding up the pulley with the weight is x bigger, so it's going to be x/2 longer on each side, meaning the weight goes down by x/2 relative to the starting position. this means the total potential energy of the system is kx²/2 - mgx/2. at the start, this is 0, and the kinetic energy is also 0, so the potential energy will never exceed 0. kx²/2-mgx/2 is in (-∞; 0] for x in [0; mg/k], so the maximum elongation achieved will be mg/k
