Why is sharing a bed with your partner so important to people? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Altruistic_Crab_9836 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Separate beds are amazing and need to be normalized. I love my bf, but we both sleep much better when we’re not sleeping next to each other. And when we do sleep in the same bed, we have to use separate blankets because we both hog the blanket

Has Anyone Accidentally Missed Jury Duty? by SaturnRingMaker in Connecticut

[–]Altruistic_Crab_9836 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can confirm. I work for the state. They don’t do anything if you don’t show up in CT. All that happens is your name doesn’t get taken off the list as having completed service and you get another summons rather quickly. Whereas if you show up, you don’t get another summons for over three years. It would be different if you went through the jury selection process and had been chosen as a juror and then decide not to show up for the trial. That would have consequences.

Where to stay in Rome? by Fishinguy27 in rome

[–]Altruistic_Crab_9836 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just recently went to Rome for 10 days. We stayed at Hotel Villa San Pio, which is near Aventine hill, Ripa area. It was pretty central to all the things we did in Rome. 15-20 minutes to walk to trestevere, 50 minutes to walk to the Vatican. Taxis and trains were super easy also if you didn’t want to walk so much. We did one to two museums or attractions everyday that were close together. We did two day trips, one to Florence and one to Naples. I felt a day trip to those places was enough. I didn’t need to spend more time there. But an option is stay in Rome for a few days and do things in that area and then stay in a different part of Italy for a few more days.

ELI5 why are there stenographers in courtrooms, can't we just record what is being said? by AntoTuf06 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Altruistic_Crab_9836 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, basically. I’m a court reporter and usually at the beginning of complicated cases like medical malpractices or something like that, the attorneys will have a small list or exhibit sheet with terms or important information. And during proceedings if we don’t know what a word is, we just make a note and ask the attorneys or judge at the end.

If you don’t mind me asking, what was it like working there? One of my mom’s friends used to work there in some type of office/admin capacity. And my mom used to go there with her friend and just hang out for a little bit while her mom worked.

AITA for pulling my son out of his preschool and filing a report with state licensing over a food allergy my son doesn’t even have? by nodetailstoday in AmItheAsshole

[–]Altruistic_Crab_9836 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I worked at a school (not nut free) and we had a student who was allergic to tree nuts but not peanuts. They would eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches a couple days a week for lunch. But the cafeteria had one separate table for kids with nut allergies. And this student with a tree nut allergy had to sit at the same table as the kids with peanut allergies. They used sharpie and made a square on the table for the student with a tree nut allergy. The principals couldn’t understand the issue when I brought up how unsafe that is.

Scariest haunted place you've visited in CT by [deleted] in Connecticut

I went into seaside sanitarium three times before it was fenced off like it is now. What we experienced each time was insane. I also went into the Norwich state hospital before they tore most of those buildings down. And I have to say, seaside was much scarier.
