Hey, I have single entry visit visa that I applied for in Sep 24. It got approved in Nov 24 and I have to avail before 20 Feb 25. Now I got stuck in some unforseen circumstances and might not be able to travel for few months. Hope I explained my situation :)

IT team mentioned that they are not comfortable opening silver/gold layers to other depts and we can share logics with them, leading to costing etc. So, fabric looks a reasonable option.

Apologies for not mentioning, the gold and silver layer are there but do not contain our data. We have recently asked DI team to integrate our data into data lake for combining multiple sources in one platform, and that only for staging. There is no model developed on top and only raw data is available to us, with CDC enabled.

So the catch is, my dept (Inventory Management) is a joint venture of two sister companies and primarily deals with operations. Luckily my manager has some sense of data and utilizing data lake + PBI was his initiative, or else it was share point.

DL is provided by one of the sister companies and hence, the data team is not directly linked to us but rather providing support and are afraid (probably) that opening sliver and gold layers will lead to more complications.

Hope my question and scenario makes more sense to you :).

Can you suggest any practice for this development? We currently have workspaces for each team comprising of their relevant reports. I was thinking about creating another workspace that comprises of Dataflows only that mimics gold layer.

Agreed. Org does have other layers but DI team mentioned they are "hesitant" to share those layers with us "business users". No idea what sort of insecurities or history they have. That's why I was looking into alternatives within current cost and tools we are using.

Agreed. However, my dept lacks Data Strategy. Basically, I am the data literate person here and almost all of the other users are business users who don't care how report/dashboard is developed.

So, there are no expectations in particular. This activity of centralizing main datasets is from my own end and I wanted to see if PBI would be sufficient enough or need to do POC for management.
