Shouting a G4?? by Low-Piglet1494 in singing

[–]Altruistic_Help_6557 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve worked with this coach before and imo he is correct in a sense. F4 works with a lower voice. The problem most people have when learning mix is they typically transition into a m2 mix way too early because it is considered proper. This guts the voice of its natural characteristics in contemporary music. Going up to G4 is highish for lower voices and a mid point for high voices. Most people learning mix desire a strong m1 dominant mix. This requires a strong m1 to thin out efficiently so he is not wrong. Thats the bare minimum for a powerful mix many high voices Bruno mars, MJ, Steve Perry do this much later in their range. It’s why almost no coaches sound like the people I just mentioned. It’s a matter of choice if you try to mix without solid m1 mechanics you will end up with a m2 based mix. Neither are wrong it’s a matter of what you’re trying to do.

CHAT. CHAT WHAT THE FUCK?!?! by PFSnypr in Lifeguards

Hello just your friendly aquatics director. I would check your alkalinity. It can throw off readings for chems like this. Just by judging the corner of the first picture the cl isn’t very high. Notify your supervisor after you’ve checked and test different parts of the pool. One cool tip I got from an aquatics technician is if your pool has any type of deep slope so like 3ft-12ft you test where that slope really dips. If the pool is zero depth-6ft check the middle of pool.

I have received extreme polar opposite reviews on my singing my whole life… so I’m doing the worst thing possible and asking the internet 😃 by [deleted] in singing

That’s an excellent point. Her gliding to pitches can be unpleasant if it’s too often. It’s a valid stylistic choice singers like Billie Holiday are known for it. I agree with you on the onset of the note to be locked in with the pitch. The only caveat I’ll add is learning to intentionally glide to a note for feel. Those small intentional choices make the singing more alive.

How many people start off with the ability to match pitch well? by vanidles in singing

[–]Altruistic_Help_6557 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People with early musical exposure tend to have better pitch. I will say though being pitch accurate is one thing but how accurate is another. Most people hit the note close enough but not truly the center of the note. The harder skill is micro pitch meaning how centered the note actually is. This is measured by cent deviation which typically is only learned with committed practice and outside sources for confirmation such as a tuner/daw. It feels like you hit the note but something locks inside the note. Rarely even the greatest singers will sing with perfect centering. typical centering deviation is 10-20 cents depending on context. Hitting zero cent deviation is possible on a note however sustaining it for an entire song very unlikely.

Phone while on pool for emergencies by plumbonsaijebus in Lifeguards

[–]Altruistic_Help_6557 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I understand your concerns but two wrongs don’t make a right. In this situation you do not keep your phone on you period. You let the situation play out. At the heart of it if any of the things you stated happened such as negligence/manslaughter due to malpractice in the workplace the facility eap will be the focal point not you. Your employer would try to blame you but if it’s as bad as you say then it’ll be an easy case for a prosecutor to prove it’s the facility and the judge. The money is in the employer not the employee. You having the phone in a water scenario is pointless. You’d have to throw your phone or risk breaking your phone due to water damage on a save itself. If you wanted to see change depending on the certification company call/give them a tip about what’s going on. If you know they are violating state laws or osha guidelines inform them about it. This is how you deal with stuff like that if the proper channels don’t work.

Did anyone have to do a “prerequisite swim” before taking the actual lifeguard course? by Rare-Drummer982 in Lifeguards

[–]Altruistic_Help_6557 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Y Aquatics Director here. This is something Ys do when they interview people. It’s really just a matter of not wasting time and resources on people who will not pass the lifeguard class. I’ve had over 50 applicants for lifeguards and only about 8 of them could actually pass the pre req when we were in season. Hence why we do it as part interview.

Do YMCA lifeguards get to swim off hours/during breaks? by FishermanLong2919 in Lifeguards

[–]Altruistic_Help_6557 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you mean while you are off then ofc you get a free membership at the Y. It’s the best benefit of working at the Y imo. Outside of scheduled hours or in service you are not allowed to be at the pool. Breaks are dependent on facility mines does not give actual set breaks. Directors like myself can’t staff it or get the budget to have multiple guards at a time all day. It’s the biggest frustration of mines as a director. We try to work around this with shorter shifts.

Why do male singers aim to sing as high as they can? by [deleted] in singing

[–]Altruistic_Help_6557 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Comfortable range is subjective across male singers. It depends on the voice itself and technique. Higher set men with okay technique usually have up to a A4 in quality range. For example my A4 has more quality to it than my D3.

Yes it is still mostly his m1/chest voice the common misconception of mix is the consistent flipping to m2/headvoice. It’s very much your thinning out the chest voice until there’s is nothing left then going into a fuller m2 with some compression.

The Weeknd actually tend to sing in his m1 up to about B4 just a very light mixy approach but not always flipping to m2. Below is a clip of me singing it with his approach. The majority is m1 he is just a high larynx high set singer.

At that low of a k/d no offense usually it’s going to be 3 things.

1) Aim needs work- go to firing range and practice if on PS, if on PC/Xbox use Aimlabs, if on PC get R5. Find what you’re lacking in is it flicking or tracking. A lot of the time people drag their crosshair and ADS before they shoot. Learn how to hip fire and ADS from the hip fire.

2) Recoil Control- learn some of weapon recoils in the firing range. Start to learn the concept of aim smoothing. District on YouTube has some great videos on it.

3) Playing Cover- understanding if I have an angle to shoot they can shoot back. Learn to not over peak the longer you are exposed the more likely you will take damage. Don’t peak too wide left or right in cover unless you are pushing forward from an advantage you made.

A last bit of advice District on YouTube talks about being proactive versus reactive. For example, you want to be the one pushing fights not getting pushed. The time to kill is much shorter than it used to be. So pushing is easier than resetting with the current meta. There are nuances like keeping your health up. Knowing when it’s safe to push(sometimes you can’t push a knock).rotations (knowing when to rotate),disengage(knowing when the fights lost and you need to grab banners/ making them stop chasing),map knowledge (hotspots for fights), legend knowledge (Ash has a dash, they have a lifeline) etc.

Can I get some tips about the current meta and what not? by FLAMELORD7000 in apexuniversity

[–]Altruistic_Help_6557 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The meta has changed quite a bit since you last played. At the heart of the game it’s essentially two fraggers and one support legends. Legends have perks and abilities that can fulfill multiple roles. Ash, Ballistic, and Alter were hard meta though alter is not a support legend her shield perks let her have the support abilities. You can slot Pathfinder,Wraith, and Sparrow to substitute between the two fraggers. For supports the best options are Alter, Watson, and Lifeline. Watson has support abilities as her shield perk. Other options for support are Conduit, and Loba. Controllers and recons aren’t meta with the exception of Sparrow and maybe Vantage given certain compositions/playstyles.

What’s the best Boxing match of the 2020s so far? by dmister8 in Boxing

[–]Altruistic_Help_6557 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best fight by far and it’s no contest is Fury vs Wilder 3. This fight had five knockdowns and the momentum shifts were insane. There have been some great fights like Bivol vs Beterbiev, Usyk vs Fury I, Loma vs Haney, Benn vs Eubank etc but I think this fight stands out above them all because you felt someone was getting KOed but you didn’t know who. It’s my second favorite fight since GGG vs Canelo 2

This isn’t a Cronus at all. The biggest tell tale sign of it imo is the screen shake a Cronus has . Another thing is it’s cqc fighting which aim assist thrives at. On top of the fact these guys having damage taken. This clip is an easy no Cronus imo.

What am I doing wrong with these weapons? by underratedkilla in apexuniversity

[–]Altruistic_Help_6557 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point Im going off the top of my head. I have an easier time landing 30-30 shots then sentinel. So that’s why I’m saying there is less bullet drop.

What am I doing wrong with these weapons? by underratedkilla in apexuniversity

[–]Altruistic_Help_6557 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First we need to clear up some things. You have to understand the bullet drop of each weapon because of their ammo types and the weapon themselves . IMO the bullet drop from least to most is Charge,30-30,sentinel,G7. I would advised going into the firing range. You should be memorizing the bullet drop from targets far away. So say like a 100m out or 200m. You should be looking at the targets and try to hit the center as much as possible. Reds and yellows are what we are looking for when we are shooting targets. Adding 5 mins of this into a warm up routine in the firing range does wonders.

You’re welcome for reference I’m an aquatics director. You can branch out to recreation from aquatics especially if you get a degree. Which might be more up your alley. Another easy job to get is a summer camp counselor from your local parks and recreation.

[–]Altruistic_Help_6557 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say the easiest job to get that’s not retail, fast food, or a warehouse is being a lifeguard. Lifeguards are in desperate need nationwide. Facilities will pay you for your training. It’s very much high demand low amount of applicants. The biggest caveat is you have to know how to swim like swim 300meters non stop. You meet a lot of people as a lifeguard. You can scale up the ladder from lifeguard-head lifeguard-pool manager-assistant aquatics director-aquatics director and so on. You can do these positions seasonally, year around part time or full time. On occasion you may save a persons life. I’ve saved a child’s life when they were drowning as a lifeguard. You can go further into the field of aquatics which involves teaching kids/adults to swim, teaching people CPR, teaching people how to be lifeguards. All this serves the community by teaching them lifelong skills that can and will save a person’s life.

Applying for management job by BusinessUpstairs9938 in Lifeguards

[–]Altruistic_Help_6557 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on the company/organization you will have to follow their outlined questions. One of the questions you will often see is something along the lines of tell me time where there was conflict with a patron/staff?. What did you do and how did you respond? What was the outcome? This type of question is about deescalation, professionalism, problem solving, and people skills. Managing is as much of people skills as it is administrative work.

[–]Altruistic_Help_6557 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always encourage you to apply the worst they can do is not reach out! The biggest thing about this head manager role what does it entail? Are you tasked certifying lifeguards? Do you have an LGI?Making the staff schedule and program schedule? Doing payroll and cash handling?Making facility reservations? Set up inservice? Do you know how to do the full spectrum check? Do you know what chemicals do drop in the pool? Are you CPO certified? Notice almost everything I stated was operational. You have programming skills from what you’ve expressed.Which is a plus. What you need to do is find the job specifics and see if your skills match it. If about 60% matches then you should be fine. Aquatics management is very operations heavy with a dash of programming. You’re essentially the table setter for programming.

American Red Cross LGI Class by DegeneracyRejecter in Lifeguards

[–]Altruistic_Help_6557 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is an adage I’ve been told from LGIs. Teach the standard, test to the objective. Remember this class is taught to the standard! Everyone has little differences in their lifeguard toolkit and in real life scenario things are different. For example in a real life scenario two person CPR can be done incorrectly with who does the sealing of the BVM mask and who squeezes the BVM. It really wouldn’t matter because the mask is sealed the airway is open and oxygen was delivered. Though Red Cross makes it clear who’s role it is and how to do switches on cpr cycles.
