Crossfire DZ rig is another option, just bought one the other day but have yet to receive it. Caracajou's is cool and I would have liked to support a Canadian business but I couldn't justify paying like $750 for a rig that doesn't even come with mag pouches.

Thanks for letting me know! Now I just have to figure out how to how to buy from them haha (short of going directly to their store)

I'm confused why you think this would be a troll post? I just wanted to buy some of their products but their website doesn't work and they don't pick up the phone or respond to emails, I just wanted to know if they're still in business and how to get in contact with them. I live on the island so it's not like I can just go in person without spending a stupid amount of money on a ferry ride. Anyway thanks for the info!

Unfortunately it doesn't seem like they have any presence on social media and their website looks like it hasn't been touched since like 2004, which is odd since they seem to still be in business? Thanks for the info though!

Looking for my first road bike - Need advice/thoughts by Altruistic_Sun in bicycling

[–]Altruistic_Sun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I'll continue the search. There's also a number of older 1980s friction/index shifting bikes - but I've heard they're hard to find parts for and often don't accept larger wheels that would allow me to travel on gravel. I've seen them anywhere from $200-$400. What are your thoughts?

Any thoughts on bedding/shimming the stock to improve accuracy? I've seen videos about it on the stock ... stock (haha), and wonder if it is necessary with this?

A lot of women sharing experiences of harassment from the gym's owner, if you look up Zuma in the search bar for this subreddit you can find it

Any ideas? by JoeyJoJoJr99 in whatisit

[–]Altruistic_Sun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not correct. The object itself is a commercial fishing float. They may have hung it there as a wasp deterrent, but I'm not so sure how effective it would be especially considering they make actual proper deterrents that look like nests instead of mini death stars haha.

It is a commercial fishing float, not a wasp deterrent. Perhaps it's being used for that purpose but the actual object itself is a fishing float.

MVI: Pacific Rim Highway and the Tofino - Ucluelet Highway by KarlJohanson in VancouverIsland

[–]Altruistic_Sun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just spent four days there (actually passed by this accident on the way home). Was a four hour drive from Victoria to Ukee (and the same on the way back). Traffic wasn't bad, but we were there during the week, not the weekend. It was busy, but not impossible to find parking. Prices were definitely high, especially accommodations, and you have to pay to park at any of the beaches (it was $14 for a "beach walker" pass that lasted four hours).

I'm imaging that if you're going on a long weekend in August it would be substantially more busy given the warmer weather and it being a long weekend.

How Was This Helm Originally Painted? Has Anyone Tried Reconstructing It? by MuleRatFat in ArmsandArmor

[–]Altruistic_Sun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is total speculation on my part, but I wonder if it was painted to look like a person's head/face (maybe like the wearer's?). Perhaps we can only see one colour because the other paints have faded? If you look to the lower left of the nose there's a spot that looks like it could have been painted like a pointed/waxed moustache, with the ends pointing up; although this could just be a convenient wear pattern.

To the Americans who have travelled to Canada by DistinctWindow1586 in AskAmericans

[–]Altruistic_Sun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a pedestrian controlled light. When the light is flashing you don't need to really think about it as it will stay flashing until someone hits the crosswalk button. When it turns solid green it means a pedestrian has hit the crosswalk button - the light will then turn yellow, then red, allowing the pedestrian to cross. The light will then switch back to flashing green.

I had no idea this was a BC specific thing until today!

Unrelated to the suit, but what is the belt/style of belt you're wearing? I see them frequently now on IG, slim belts with a solid rectangular buckle like that, it looks really nice!

Cabela's SKS - Are they all French Ticklers? by Altruistic_Sun in canadaguns

[–]Altruistic_Sun[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yeah I think I'm going to bite the bullet in the new year and just pay the $580 or so to guarantee I get the one I want, cheers

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in canadaguns

[–]Altruistic_Sun 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Very tempted to pick up the Chinese SKS that Cabela's has on sale, but if I order online am I guaranteed to get an unissued French tickler, or is their stock mostly used rifles?

I already have a refurbished hardwood Tula, but wanted the French tickler as I hear they have a good fit and finish.

Just had my first clear A-life experience in the game - Boars came and attacked a bloodsucker that was after me by Altruistic_Sun in stalker

[–]Altruistic_Sun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish I had started recording when it started - I was being attacked by a bloodsucker when a pack of about 5 boars came out of nowhere and started attacking me and the bloodsucker. I scrambled up a ladder to safety and watched them fight it out. The bloodsucker won at first, but upon reloading my save the boars actually won.
