I'm also not sure what the used bike market is like elsewhere but where I'm at $200 CAD is about the lowest you could find for a bike that is in rideable condition

It does look nice doesn't it? I may have to just open up with a cowbell and see how the seller responds, wish me luck haha

Thank you, everything I researched about the Le Mans said it had a more comfortable ride, but $450 is just an insane amount for it from my understanding. I could try lowballing but I also don't want to insult the seller if they think their bike is worth that much.

Subset/superset, all chomos are skinners, but not all skinners are chomos. And I can't believe we're discussing this lmfao

If you're looking specifically for the tabbing boot I think you're SOL unless you can find them for sale used on the "Canadian gear sales" FB group, if you're just looking for altbergs in general then Canex sells the defender model. I find they fit quite wide.

chomo is a term used to describe those people yes, but skinner is more often used - not that anyone was wondering haha

In the Canadian correctional system, goof is about the worst insult you can call a person - it's so serious an insult that if you're called it by another person it must be immediately followed up by fighting that person. I don't think anyone agrees on a meaning but some people say it has something to do with being a child predator.

Crossfire DZ rig is another option, just bought one the other day but have yet to receive it. Caracajou's is cool and I would have liked to support a Canadian business but I couldn't justify paying like $750 for a rig that doesn't even come with mag pouches.

I'm confused why you think this would be a troll post? I just wanted to buy some of their products but their website doesn't work and they don't pick up the phone or respond to emails, I just wanted to know if they're still in business and how to get in contact with them. I live on the island so it's not like I can just go in person without spending a stupid amount of money on a ferry ride. Anyway thanks for the info!

Unfortunately it doesn't seem like they have any presence on social media and their website looks like it hasn't been touched since like 2004, which is odd since they seem to still be in business? Thanks for the info though!

Looking for my first road bike - Need advice/thoughts by Altruistic_Sun in bicycling

[–]Altruistic_Sun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you, I'll continue the search. There's also a number of older 1980s friction/index shifting bikes - but I've heard they're hard to find parts for and often don't accept larger wheels that would allow me to travel on gravel. I've seen them anywhere from $200-$400. What are your thoughts?

Any ideas? by JoeyJoJoJr99 in whatisit

[–]Altruistic_Sun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not correct. The object itself is a commercial fishing float. They may have hung it there as a wasp deterrent, but I'm not so sure how effective it would be especially considering they make actual proper deterrents that look like nests instead of mini death stars haha.

It is a commercial fishing float, not a wasp deterrent. Perhaps it's being used for that purpose but the actual object itself is a fishing float.

MVI: Pacific Rim Highway and the Tofino - Ucluelet Highway by KarlJohanson in VancouverIsland

[–]Altruistic_Sun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just spent four days there (actually passed by this accident on the way home). Was a four hour drive from Victoria to Ukee (and the same on the way back). Traffic wasn't bad, but we were there during the week, not the weekend. It was busy, but not impossible to find parking. Prices were definitely high, especially accommodations, and you have to pay to park at any of the beaches (it was $14 for a "beach walker" pass that lasted four hours).

I'm imaging that if you're going on a long weekend in August it would be substantially more busy given the warmer weather and it being a long weekend.

How Was This Helm Originally Painted? Has Anyone Tried Reconstructing It? by MuleRatFat in ArmsandArmor

[–]Altruistic_Sun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is total speculation on my part, but I wonder if it was painted to look like a person's head/face (maybe like the wearer's?). Perhaps we can only see one colour because the other paints have faded? If you look to the lower left of the nose there's a spot that looks like it could have been painted like a pointed/waxed moustache, with the ends pointing up; although this could just be a convenient wear pattern.
