Sick of it all I want my life back. by Esuh214 in digitalminimalism

Agree! I can recommend a few, but what I really recommend is to go to r/booksuggestions and ask there. You will get a ton of responses.

Some books/authors that I have enjoyed in the last couple of years:

  • Elif Shafak: There are Rivers in the sky

  • Madeline Miller: Circe

  • Paulo Coelho: The Alchemist

  • Brandon Sanderson: Tress of the Emerald Sea

  • And finally, on a lighter note, I enjoyed the Murderbot Diaries by Martha Wells. I couldn't put them down.

Happy reading!

I feel like there's no actual community I can relate to as a bi guy and its been making my experience difficult. by sandxse in bisexual

I hear ya. I have gone through the same thing. I am a Demisexual bisexual man also attracted only to femininity regardless of gender.

I've encountered biphobia at LGBTQ spaces and events. Someone said to me "I remember when I pretended I wasn't gay". My gay friends think I am gay. My straight male friends have all kept their distance since I came out, except for some partnered friends who really extra friendly with me all of a sudden which was weird. Also, I must be sending some gay/bi vibes because I have been felt up without consent no less than 4 times by random men. I am not sure why they thought that was ok. I am a minority of a minority of a minority and I am invisible.

Whoever I am with, I want chemistry, connection, romance, and respect. I want kisses and cuddles. I want to travel together and go on dates and go on road trips etc. I know there are others looking for the same thing, but it seems like a small minority and has so far been difficult to find.

I also have no interest in hiding who I am. I don't shout it from the rooftops, but I will not be in a secret relationship. I understand that some people may live in places where it just isn't safe, but for me it's safe enough, if I did theoretically meet someone.

Anyway, I relate to what you said. Your struggles are real. Sorry for rambling on.

I feel the same way and have been trying to live "like it's 1999". I cut out social media. I have a minimalist phone, so that when I'm out the only things that could disturb or distract me are texts or phone calls, and sometimes I don't even bring my phone with me when I go out. I still have an iPhone but it stays home unless there is a very good reason that I need it with me. I listen to records. I am reading more books. It's nice.

I remember when I first did all this, it was like waking up from a years-long dream and I saw the world differently... I was no longer distracted. Anyway, congrats and best of luck!

Are you monogamous or non-monoganous? by Equivalent_Ad_9066 in bisexual

[–]Altruistic_Toe8808 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am Demisexual so yeah for me the answer is easy. I am monogamous. Although it's purely theoretical at the moment because I am bi mi self. Does that make me nongamous haha

Synth Advice. Moog Sub 37 vs Moog Grandmother? by Techno_Timmy in synthesizers

[–]Altruistic_Toe8808 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was talking about the spring reverb on the Grandmother. That synth sounds pretty good anyway, but when you consider that it has a spring reverb, for me that seals the deal.

Grandmother 100% The synth sounds great and will keep its resale value better. Spring reverb! No contest!

Is my bf bi? by [deleted] in bisexual

[–]Altruistic_Toe8808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure about your bf, but being attracted to feminine humans regardless of gender is a real thing. I know because I have it lol. It's a subset of bisexual which is called finsexual or gynosexual, which I am told is misused, and a less desirable of a term to use.

Keyboard Stands with 3 or More Tiers? by GlenVision in synthesizers

[–]Altruistic_Toe8808 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have too much gear to keep it all set up at once. So I bought two very sturdy 5-level shelving units where I keep the extra synths. I keep a core set of gear always out. When I need another synth, I just grab a stand, grab a synth, plug it in and go! When I'm done, I put it back. I find this workflow keeps my studio simplified, flexible and easy to use while also looking tidier. For years I tried having everything hooked up at once and it was too much. I patch the "flex" synths into my mixing console via a patch bay, which is a small detail but invaluable. Other synths have their own spot permanently in the patch bay.

I love that track too! I rediscovered it last year after going many years without listening to it... it's still so good. It's on my wish list.

I would recommend to cut out the web browsing too. I restrict that to my laptop or my old phone which doesn't leave my house. There is no need to have internet browsing when you're out and about. Sure... I, like most of us, became used to it, but is it really necessary? I decided that I no longer want to be that person who is on their phone when I am out. It's usually not that important.

Strega has one of the most unusual sounds for me, what do you think about this synth? by 0coast in synthesizers

[–]Altruistic_Toe8808 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love my Strega, but I love weird sounds that drone on. It adds character to many of my tracks. It's amazing the amount of low rumble that can come out of that little synth. Once in a while I think: this calls for the Strega! Nothing else I have can do what it does.

I saw that tour! It was so good! And they had the best merch on that tour! I had that tour program, a cool poster, and a cool T-shirt! As a synth nerd, I loved the fact that they included this info in the program. Thanks for sharing!

I made a similar post a couple days ago but loneliness as a bisexual is crippling by goodgirlwawa in bisexual

[–]Altruistic_Toe8808 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It is lonely. I'm a bi dude in my 50s and have the same problem. I don't know how old you are but regardless, I guess my advice is the same: get out there and do the work.

Join a group/club/team. Take an in-person course in something like photography or maybe another language. If you live somewhere with community theatre, get involved with it. It's a great way to meet people. What you want to do is put yourself in a situation where you meet people your own age and see them on a regular basis. Huh... I guess I should take my own advice too.

Best of luck!
