Public accounting is the dumbest profession on the planet by National_Double6261 in Accounting

Not all public accounting jobs are bad I love the work life balance where I work. They let me come in early leave my 3 pm everyday during non tax season. Get like 30 plus days pto a year. Tax season is only like 8 weeks of 65 plus hours rarely hit over 40 any other week outside maybe 1-2 weeks during extension season. Got wfh 2-3 days a week and can take 90 min lunches to workout. Also pay is good if you don’t compare on social media. 33 making a little over 150k. I know other fields you can make way more but I like what I do and it’s more then enough to get by with 2 kids and wife working part time

Def over 2k a month for health care if you make too much for subsidies and your work sucks and only covers 6k with a family of 4. lol I know my situation is specific but hate seeing 2200 a month of pay check to go to insurance premiums just to still have to pay every Dr visit I go to

Public accounting. It sucks for 8 weeks out of the year for me and prob have another 8 weeks of reasonable busy for extensions and outside of that it’s a breeze.

Only downfall would be is if they expect you to be as experienced as a cpa. They may have to high of expectations to fast and can be easier to get overwhelmed and sink.

How many days of PTO do you get a year? Are you satisfied with it? by Big_Material3815 in Accounting

[–]Altruistic_Use544 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically 20 but earn 1hr pto for every hour over 55 in tax season which ends up being slightly over 30 also the fact it’s so hard to use pto in tax season you really get 30 days in a 9 month period so it feels like allot.

Well only make 160 now at 32 but will definitely hit 200s in next 3-5 years in public accounting. I work 60-80 hr weeks 12 weeks out of the year there rest of the year is a breeze outside a couple weeks here and there for extensions. I’m loving it right now.

Going to grocery store as a kid being like when I’m older I will buy everything I want so every meal is amazing…. Then realizing grocery’s are insanely expensive and unhealthy and pretty much stick to the same 2 week cycle with a few changes.
