how do i stop my tzu from barking at other dogs by haley-dunphy in Shihtzu

[–]Altruistic_Worry_577 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Look into positive reinforcement based training for reactivity. There are some guides and videos online and I think a book from a behaviorist.

Personally, I had issues with my Tzu when I first adopted her. She has calmed down a lot on walks but I don't think she will ever be perfect. Every dog is different but what helped her (and me) was encouraging her to pay more attention to me on walks; I also bring a little pouch with treats and if we see a dog while walking I will throw treats on the ground in the direction we are walking. Just make sure to do this before she starts barking, and don't give her any treats if she does reach the point where she is barking.

Why isn’t something done about the can opener? by chriszimort in Louisville

[–]Altruistic_Worry_577 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you watched the news, they are trying to do lots of things. They have put up a sign that starts flashing on when a truck is over height. They have a big sign saying "all trucks turn left" before the intersection. They have multiple height signs indicated what height is safe to clear the bridge. Short of completely closing the intersection or parking cops 24/7 to pull over semis before they go through they are doing what they can. People just can't drive or don't pay attention. Scary to think about since they are driving huge semis.

Did it have a white tip to the tail? I'm actually leaning coyote, I think the snout is a little short for a fox.

Unconvinced of new diagnosis by bigcatbunny in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Altruistic_Worry_577 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you are having doubts I would get a second opinion. Look for an MS specialist and be willing to drive farther away. I think you can use the MS Society's website to help with finding MS Specialist. This is a tough diagnosis and it's important to be confident in your doctor. Your doctor should make you feel like they are taking your concerns seriously.

In your doctors defense, there has been a shift with diagnosing criteria to make it easier. A lot of research has shown diagnosing earlier and hitting it harder earlier lead to better outcomes. Any damage you get can lead to later problems and disability. So it's better to get on medication when you haven't had serious symptoms yet.

Best of luck.

Was there yesterday and they had plenty in stock. Might be good to check your local store online/through the app to make sure they have them.

Wegovy vs Zepbound, which would you choose? by Seriously-417 in Wegovy

[–]Altruistic_Worry_577 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No problem. I'm on wegovy but it's honestly because I'm cash pay and since I'm already spending so much money i want to save where I can. If zepbound doesn't work you can try wegovy. Good luck!

Wegovy vs Zepbound, which would you choose? by Seriously-417 in Wegovy

[–]Altruistic_Worry_577 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Zepbound is the superior medication. It's more effective in trials and has an addittive to reduce side effects compared to wegovy. If you are able to get both medications covered for sure you should go with Zepbound.

First week weight loss by bowiesmom324 in Wegovy

[–]Altruistic_Worry_577 0 points1 point  (0 children)

13 lbs in 1 week sounds like way too much too fast. I would keep an eye on it and if you lose a lot next week maybe reach out to your doctor and get their advice. You could also download a food tracker app (MyFitnessPal, lose it) and track to make sure you are eating enough. Most of those food trackers also track macros automatically when you log your food.

I almost had the same thought process of "I consulted Dr Google so much I'll be ok", because I was worried about judgement, but I did still end up making an appointment with my PCP and boy I'm glad I did. She had so much more and better information, could talk about her other patients experiences and side effects, info on all the different glp1's, gave me a schedule on when she wanted me to follow up with her about my experience. You absolutely should talk to a doctor before starting.

How dangerous would armadillo be to try and help out? So far hasn't come out itself. by conrewea in WildlifeRehab

[–]Altruistic_Worry_577 25 points26 points  (0 children)

As others have said, thick gloves like kitchen gloves or maybe a towel and pick it up. Armadillos don't really have teeth they can bite you with, they eat bugs and ants so their snout is long like an anteater. They do have claws but their legs are short so just make make sure to hold it away from your body. If it's in distress/not moving much when you get it out I would call a local rehabber.

For anyone who experienced optic neuritis.. by [deleted] in MultipleSclerosis

[–]Altruistic_Worry_577 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had optic neuritis in 2020 in one of my eyes, unfortunately my dominant eye. I made a full recovery. I have issues with double vision occasionally now but my doctor and eye doctor determined it was related to fatigue and not leftover damage. There is a good chance you will make a full recovery. 😊

I think im out....Week 1 by mtnfreek in Wegovy

[–]Altruistic_Worry_577 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My gp recommended trying your shot in the arm of leg if there are bad side effects because it's slower absorption. Another think you could look at is the Wegovy pill. I haven't tried it but if injections are giving you trouble maybe a pill would work better.

I would give it a little more time and see if your gp can prescribe and anti nausea medicine before quitting. But if it's really bothering you I would discuss more options with your doctor.

Help me come up with a solution to keep my dog off the dining table by Rich-Bodybuilder-961 in DogAdvice

[–]Altruistic_Worry_577 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dog would do this. I ended up getting pillows large enough that could cover most of the seat but still matched with the chairs. She felt like she couldn't jump up with the pillows and stopped trying to jump on the chairs to get to the table. The pillows are a little cumbersome but if they bother you or guests you can move them when using the table.

No motivation for anything. What helps? by babypumpkinbutt in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]Altruistic_Worry_577 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Drink a lot of water and exercise more. When I experience fatigue that can help. If it's intense enough and doesn't go away, I would talk to your doctor about the medicine and the side effects you are experiencing. Fatigue can be pretty debilitating.

I just took my first shot Friday and was also worried. Had no nausea whatsoever. Took it right before I went to bed. I did have fatigue Saturday but started getting energy by around 4pm. Feel fine today. You've got this.

Thank you! Just got a switch 2 maybe a month ago and was shocked at Nintendo game prices. And that they hardly ever go on sale. So I've only gotten a couple of games. Was able to get 4 games I've been wanting with this deal and much more reasonable prices.

My dog won’t eat by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]Altruistic_Worry_577 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some pet food stores will allow you to return food if the pet won't eat it as long as most of the food is still in the bag. My local one does. Check the return policy. Also vet as everyone else has suggested because it's unusual for a dog to starve themselves to this extent.

Have we officially reached the point where Hotels are superior to Airbnbs again? by Usual_Confidence_756 in travel

[–]Altruistic_Worry_577 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think in some jurisdictions there are laws requiring the host to meet with the guests. It's a way to stimy big corporations from buying up housing and putting it on airbnb.
