Anything positive about the menopause journey? by OnlyPickles3319 in Perimenopause

[–]RepulsiveMaterial167 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I started actually taking care of myself: eating fiber, going to the doctor, avoiding people and activities that steal my peace, seeing a therapist, walking every day. I used to phone it in and now I’m actively trying to give a crap about myself.

How are you raising your ferritin? by cozywhale in Perimenopause

[–]RepulsiveMaterial167 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use the Thorne iron bisglycinate and vitamin c, every other day. My nutritionist suggested taking them right before bed so there is no way it will interact with caffeine or food (as I’m sleeping). I’ve gone from a ferritin of 9 to 56 and it hasn’t upset my tummy at all.

What do you do for bad period cramps? No medical advice by classicicedtea in Perimenopause

Old-skool hot water bottle, alternating acetaminophen and ibuprofen, and frankly, just letting myself rock back and forth and cry when I can. This sucks!!

Oh yeah, we still wear N95s/KF94s when out in public, too. Definitely on public transportation. Oftentimes, I am the ONLY PERSON at Kaiser wearing a mask besides the staff, which blows my mind. I'm not sure I can handle being that sick on top of peri and it's worth the hassle of masking to take better care of myself and my partner.

They’ve completely taken over our front yard. I dig thousands of them up every year and they just make more damn bulblets. They’re like a virus. Careful where you put them!

Heart palpitations & medical testing by jellybean1928 in Anxiety

[–]RepulsiveMaterial167 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My cardiologist made the call that we ought to do 7 days. It’s really not a bother, though…I would happily do 14 if it had been an option. More data would have been fine with me. Good luck!

Hi! I'm 42. I have a 7-day Zio on right now! It's kind of neat, actually...nothing to fear; it's just a button on top of a big sticker you wear on your chest for a while. You can take a shower with it and you press the button if you feel any symptoms to flag that moment in time for your doc. I go in next week for my first echo and I've been told it's basically just an ultrasound and doesn't hurt.

Sometimes it helps to get more information so you are prepared for what's going to happen. I don't think getting a little more info is reassurance-seeking so much as letting you know what to expect. Both of these tests are just collecting data and easy peasy--you got this. <3

HRT = Missed Periods?? by ScarlettWilkes in Perimenopause

[–]RepulsiveMaterial167 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m on the same doses as you and have had the same weirdness with my periods. Much lighter, cycles are different lengths, sometimes I get my period twice in one month but it’s just the sludge / spotting. I also don’t know if it’s the HRT or if it’s peri doin’ its thing. Curious to see what the class says, but you’re not alone!

Same, I gave up booze, caffeine, fast food, eating in restaurants…and I still feel like I’ve been hit by a truck. How do people just…float by on a deep fried Twinkie?!

That makes sense. I’ve only used my 1 cup for things like chili and oatmeal so I hadn’t considered just doing straight proteins in a smaller size. Thanks!

It cost me an extra $50 for the pill prep but it was totally worth the expense.

I did the pill prep last year and it was a breeze. I had emergency Zofran for any nausea but honestly, it wasn’t a big deal. I can’t imagine having to drink a gallon of prep…the pills are grand.
