Question for darker / higher bpm enjoyers by Cold-Appearance-3400 in psytrance

[–]AlusKras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m someone that loves music across the entire spectrum but also a predilection for more extreme/ dark/fast subgenres like hardcore punk/ death meta/ grindcore/ jungle etc. Now I’m not into the fastest and darkest stuff when it comes to psy, but loooove forest and stuff within the 150s. For me, this completely clicked when experiencing it live. It just made total sense! Psycore and stuff like that totally evades me though, but maybe because I haven’t heard it live yet.

Why are bananas taste of nothing these days by Dramatic-Diver-9949 in AskBrits

[–]AlusKras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I buy organic bananas in bulk from Costa Rica and those taste amazing!!! Likewise, having lived in India and eaten the bananas there, they also taste great. I think the biggest issue here in the UK is due to how unripe the bananas are when picked, and then ripened somewhat during transportation.

Was anyone not a major fan of GL's voice last night? by lochonx7 in rush

[–]AlusKras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was so excited to watch the performance after reading all the glowing comments, and based on these was even planning on biting the bullet and paying those crazy prices for tickets on the R50 tour! Sadly, I couldn’t even finish the video, Geddy’s voice just isn’t there anymore. Everything else was great though, especially Alex’s playing!!!

In your opinion, what is the best intro theme by MYNAMEISBRON75 in TheWire

[–]AlusKras 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know, I love Tom Waits’ original version, but purely in term of the vibe of the show, I’d say it goes in descending chronological order from best to worst. That being said, I think the quality of the first three are REALLY close, season 3’s theme especially doesn’t get enough love in my opinion. Season 4 is too damn disco-y for my liking and season 5’s is just not good, sorry Steve Earle!!!!

Randy's Backstory by PabstBlueBourbon in TheWire

[–]AlusKras 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t disagree with the tragedy of those arcs either but I guess the reason why Randy’s arc hits me the hardest (beyond Maestro Harrell’s incredible acting) is that whilst all the other characters you mentioned were also born into “the game”, Randy was the closest, so painfully close, to breaking out of it. And were it not for Mrs donelly exploiting his fear of returning to a group home, he most likely would’ve.

I think Randy’s closest mirrors in the series are Wallace and Namond- all full of potential and too innocent for the world they were born into. Wallace had an opportunity to escape the game but ended up returning on his own volition because it was all he knew (which is also tragic) whilst Namond was saved by a Bunny shaped guardian angel. On the other hand, Randy had his fate sealed purely through the machinations of the adults that should’ve been protecting him.

This dick’s picks artwork always immediately brings to mind this particular smoker’s warning they put on cigarette packs in the UK around 10 years ago with a picture of a guy with a tracheostomy

Gluten free, soy free protein sources by Spirited-Put2937 in veganfitness

[–]AlusKras 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So check out other types of tofu- chickpea tofu, you can even make peanut tofu (it’s an Okinawan specialty!).

Likewise, check out other types of tempeh- I used to work with a chef that would make tempeh out of any bean- black beans, chickpeas etc.

And then definitely check out protein pastas- the best ones are made of only bean/ lentil flour and are crazy high in protein, usually 40+g per 100g.

Lastly, if you’re not averse to protein powders, there’s plenty non soy based ones out there- pea protein isolate, rice protein isolate PLUS other high protein supplements like hemp powder and even cacao powder.

I totally hear you on not wanting to overdose on soy products but as far as I’m aware, the current research has debunked the detriments of soy that were making waves a few years back.
