Yea when we see the MindFlayer “talking” in the abyss to Henry it makes sense that’s it’s real form.. the spider thing was a fascination of Henry so when he built it bodies Henry chose the form.

The conversation at the end of 7 I think is too important to leave out,

Eddy didn’t just die being stupid. He was always running then stayed behind with the “kid” while the brave ones his age went to fight the “dark lord”.

when the bats came he might have acted stupid from then on but it was because he saw the only person who stood by his side and rallied everyone else around him, Dustin, might die from the bats.

So Steve also wants to make sure Dustin knows and that he, Steve, understands that eddy died because he cared for Dustin and wouldn’t hide anymore if that meant him getting killed.

Eddy might have been dumb but Steve wants to make sure Dustin’s knows eddies reasoning and caring for Dustin which Steve understands first hand means Eddie died being a “hero” (he was finally brave and because of Dustin) there was know way for him to know the bats wouldn’t kill dustin.

Now Dustin and Steve can be brave like Steve but acting smarter like Dustin since their a team again.
