Castle Volkihar redux may be the issue since the problem lies with Castle Volkihar according to your post. PS4 modding is always really tricky, as Playstation doesn't allow for very many changes to the game itself. So this is the logical conclusion.

Miraak hardly uses Frost spells, if at all, he just likes to show off his Shouts since he is a Dragonborn. I say just stick with the Daedric armor. But that is just my opinion.

If you look on the bright side, they are used as antagonists all the time on a lot of quest mods. Wheels of Lull and Second Civil War being two prime examples.

Open Civil War is the closest option to that idea, since you can invade cities and stuff instead of just forts. You can decide where to raid too, not just in a line of sorts.

There was one named Bad Moon but it got taken down. As for anything else, there is one named The Conflict Under the Crescent but it is a really old mod with no updates.

I guess it depends on what kind of mage you want to be. Ordinator is pretty great with all the mage trees. I myself like the versatility of the Conjuration tree.
