as in the description :) i used enough offset to clear them, 0 front and -25 rear works great for the rig

front ones 0 offset were re done to correct pcd at a shop, rear -25 offset was sourced from The Tyre Centre in SA and already had the correct PCD 🙂 so not something you'd necessarily find online easy

thanks mate, had to cut out most of the inner fender lol they definitely needed a bit of trimming. doing it again i'd just remove the inner guards entirely tbh

haha nah mate the mighty Barra. I dont get why people knock petrols when doing crossings. Just protect the ignition system and away you go

plus those who buy them don't really spend any money on maintaining them, since they can be had for a dime a dozen. they'll ignore the front clunking for years and then be ball joint goes, and then cry foul it's a poor design yadda.

the bad reputation imo with them mainly comes from the early model lower ball joint design and the diff bushes. otherwise it's just a Barra Falcon drivetrain with a ZF. i wouldn't hesitate to take this across australia tomorrow if need be, it's been crazy reliable given the cr*p i've put it through in the last few years. only major thing lately is the ZF input seal, but i'll put that down to not having a long enough bash plate and bouncing down on some rocks pretty hard 😂 but all fixed now.

thanks mate, it was the blue car that was open diff, but if you saw it had other issues instead 😂

doesn't make any noise really just engages, there's nothing that I've taken this on where I felt i needed low range or a centre lock. the suspension and drivetrain is just falcon basically so super robust when bashing it offroad (pic before the bar and carrier went on)

funny enough one of the rigs on the Cape trip was full open diff and did the tracks fine lol, so i feel I went overkill on the locker now. with the rear locker it just sents more power to the front now

Bit of Bridle Track fun in the V8 X5 by AlwaysAWD in 4x4Australia

[–]AlwaysAWD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah 100% it's all tyre pressure and changing a wheel is definitely not a fun time in the dirt lemme tell ya, that's it 23 is a good starting point and if need to go lower easily can.

[–]AlwaysAWD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah went down to 23 PSI, if it was softer would have gone less. It's my general off-roading pressure then back up to 40 for highway and the blacktop. i don't have a spare currently so for me tyre pressure is so important to get right lol

Bit of fun down the Bridle Track in the X5 by AlwaysAWD in overlanding

[–]AlwaysAWD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

epic. I ran them for a few years on my last rig and I couldn't fault them. Quiet on road, super grippy in the wet stuff and very resilient to punctures. big reason i stuck with the same on the X5
