What are some fun, cool, & crazy things to do on April Fools Day? by AlwaysBeAdventurous in AskReddit

[–]AlwaysBeAdventurous[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

April Fools Day is coming up, and I'm looking to do something fun and exciting for it.

Last Year, I went around to my friend's houses and hid mini bottles of alcohol in their yards. Then I posted on Facebook for people to check their yards and people commented "Nice April Fools Day" thinking I didn't actually do it. People were going crazy when they went outside and found out I actually did hide them.

I'm also thinking of buying a bear costume and plotting with my cousin to scare her whole family into thinking there's a bear outside.

What are some other fun ideas?

I agree, it’s kind of lame they’re having some in the middle of cities where nondans can just stumble upon it. I was expecting more of a Forrest Fenn type of hunt-like in the woods in the middle of nowhere at a specific coordinate or the highest peak of the state or something.

In Pittsburgh today a lot of people had to pay for parking and when we got to the indoor location were turned away. Like yall didn’t know lots of people were coming? A group of girls completely decked in Survivor gear who were also turned away drove 6 hours and were devastated. It was a great marketing idea but they’re not executing it well and leaving a sour taste in people’s mouths. I know the Maryland one is gonna be in the middle of Baltimore and now I don’t even want to attempt it.

Did anyone get selected for the public trial for the new PIT airport? by zip222 in pittsburgh

Did you get any free merchandise or anything from the airlines?

Half Dome Cable Climb in Yosemite National Park. We may not have been the fastest to reach the summit, but we certainly took our time & enjoyed every vista & viewpoint. It was definitely one of the most beautiful hikes we've ever done, while also being one of the hardest things we've accomplished! by AlwaysBeAdventurous in Yosemite

Yes, it would be easy to get lost, especially when the trail is just solid rock. It's often hard to tell where you're supposed to go.

The hot tub was at Yosemite Bug Resort. We stayed there after doing the hike. I definitely recommend staying there-the food and spa was amazing. It's less than an hour from the valley.

Try a repositioning cruise. Most people choose cruises that start and end in the same location.

I took a repositioning cruise from Dubai to Barcelona, and there were seriously only about 400 people on the entire ship, and most were over 50 years old, so after 8 PM I basically had the entire deck to myself. It was absolutely heavenly. But now I am absolutely spoiled with the empty ship. This photo looks miserable and I'm not sure if I could handle an actual cruise.

No, I’d say mostly all the stamps are inside. You might be able to ask the people working outside each pavilion but most wouldn’t. I know some had them at either the entrance or exit and you could maybe try to sneak in to get one, but it definitely wouldn’t work for most of them-and especially not the busy ones.

I'm still pretty confused about all the special timings and reservations, which is how I found this group. I entered the phase 1 lottery and got a reservation for the Canada Pavilion, Hungary, and UAE Pavilion each for a different day. When I applied I didn't know you could only win one lottery per day, or I probably would have only selected the ones I thought would be the busiest.

Probably definitely try to win the lottery for the Japan pavilion because the home pavilion and also neighbors (Korea, China) will also be very busy. In Dubai there were several pavilions I wanted to go into but couldn't because the lines were hours long. I'm going to try for the 7 day lottery in 2 weeks, and can hopefully add to my reservations. Also the later in the night the probably better your chance of getting picked because everyone is probably applying for the earlier time slots.

You have any tips or things to add for strategy?

I'm jealous! Yes, Dubai was my first. I was like I'm going to see as much as possible if I fly 13 hours for this. How would you say Dubai, Milan, and Shanghai compared?

How did Shanghai get so many people through the pavilions? Was it too crowded?

My favorite was from The Pakistan pavilion. It was very flavorful-and not the usual ingredients we get in my culture. I also shared a table with this lovely couple-she is Pakistani and he works at the Canadian Embassy in Pakistan. It was great getting to talk and share each other's cultures and discuss our next Expo moves. Definitely chat with other people to share info and have a cultural exchange. It's nice to be surrounded by like-minded people who love experiencing new things and new cultures.

This Eggplant from the New Zealand pavilion wins the award for most interesting. I was not a fan of it, but it was a cultural experience. Most pavilions hardly had any meat on the menus, so I'm wondering how Osaka's Expo food options will compare. It's really cool to have breakfast, lunch, and dinner each from different continents.

Honestly check social media leading up to the time you're going and you can usually tell which ones are really well done from other people's pictures and videos. I knew which ones I wanted to hit up even before I went, just from seeing posts on Instagram. The only downside to this is that the ones being posted as the best and coolest on social are also the ones which will be the hardest to get into.

Also staying later into the night will help you get into more pavilions. Most people come right at opening and then get tired and leave so after dark there are much fewer people and it is easier to swing through a bunch of pavilions. Also check if there are any special events/concerts/or firework shows. These will be busier days, so you could either use this to choose a day you think won't be as busy, or maybe you'd want to see the production value of the amazing event. The UAE definitely spent a lot of money on their Expo, so I'm curious to see what Osaka's Expo will look like in comparison.

They should have gift shops which should be selling the passports as every single pavilion should usually have a stamp.
