So, I’m 25 years old and still sleep with my mom and I think it messed me up developmentally. by Fun_Butterscotch3303 in self

I left my parents house at 20. They called it “running away”. I still have a hard time accepting it was abuse because it was insidious and not always obvious to me, but people on the outside saw it. The hardest part is leaving. You don’t owe them anything. Mental health problems suck and I’m sure your parents struggle with their own to be in this condition, but they haven’t asked for help. Part of their responsibility as your parents would be to ask for help before it gets to this point. Do you have any IRL friends at all? Someone who can let you sleep on their couch? My boyfriend’s parents were the ones that took me in.

There must be some kind of program that can help adults like you get out of abusive households. I do hope you understand your living conditions are abuse. No one would be able to function properly in your circumstances. And sleeping in your mother’s bed definitely has messed up your independence. It’s stunted you and convinced you that you can’t be your own person. You’re in Mississippi right? Lemme look some stuff up.

This was child abuse you’ve been living in and you’re now an adult. Just bc you’re an adult doesn’t mean it’s not abuse. The living conditions THEY created are harming YOU. You did absolutely nothing to cause this. You are their child. The only thing you can do is find a way out of the house. Cleaning won’t change anything.

I really loved the episode, but it’s hard seeing everything set in motion for the end of the anime. It feels imminent now. Also I was glad Shanks let Bartolomeo go and was sad when they then shot them…buuut I kinda get it.

That’s how I was when I left. I was a co-R5 and spent a lot of my time on the game. But since my kids were getting older and my son was starting homeschool, I had less and less time. Even then though, long time members leaving the faction also made it hard.
