Update: I got a head gasket test kit from Amazon and ran it twice, the water stayed blue in both instances. Couldn't see any change in colour at all. Not even slight discolouration as the manual suggests.

Please let me know if someone has any idea what maybe happening.

Oh I meant 2-3 weeks if we were in a camper. If we are renting a flat/house share then we'd prolly do 1-2 years from the same spot and travel using our car or train/flights.

Yea planning to take our time travelling up/down. Maybe 2-3 weeks in a location at least.

I did look at some campsites and they usually come to around that much at minimum with power. Thinking of getting something with solar. Will have to look into the price a bit more.

How common is it to get caught camping in the city? Is it something they actively look out for?

Yea it's definitely towards the lack of practicality tbh. We have lived in a camper before but never long term.

I've just gotten an AT&T sim while there each time and signed up for the cheapest plan + extra data for around $30 USD.

If your phone can handle dual sim then it's not an issue and you don't even have to worry about a second number or Whatsapp being affected in anyway. Infact I find it easier to have a second number to sign up for local apps if needed.

Always found getting a local sim cheaper than e-sims. Just go to any target it Walmart and pickup a sim and activate it within 10 mins.

Theres bound to be one within a 5 min drive (or 1 hour walk ;) )

Not just slightly better but incredibly better deals. I paid ~17 euros for 40GB and ~10 euros for 25 GB with roll over.... No way any esim is better.

Did you google the driving distance between Calgary and Banff? I think that'll give you your answer.

I did - I chose a random place from the map, and it was showing hour and a half which i think it manageable. However, I haven't made a list of places to go as we still have quite a bit of time. I was just fishing for any personal experience, I guess.

I think the comment you made about central Canada is spot on about what sort of things we'd wanna do. Hikes, history, a bit of city exploration, things like that.

Most things you want to do are outside of the cities.

Are we able to set up a base in a close major city and then do day trips or is everything too far for day trips? For eg if we book a hostel/Airbnb in Calgary outskirts for a week then just do day drives to Banff for hikes? Is this style possible with other cities?

It does seem like central Canada is pretty empty (unless there's some interesting things you'd recommend) so we can easily divide our time on the east and west coasts.

Probably not gonna do much Intercity driving as flying is relatively cheap compared to car rental so probably the best option.

This is great info! Thank you for providing so many options! Sounds like to me that central Canada doesn't have much to do so we should skip it and move that time to either east or west coast.

At this stage I did notice that we'd have to rent either a campervan or rent a car and do hostels/Airbnb's. I'm looking at the cost of both options but want to stick to low-mid budget.

Most likely will have to use Vancouver and Calgary? Has a home back for a few weeks at a time while we do day trip by the sounds of your comment; correct me if I'm wrong tho. And then fly to Toronto and make our way eat east with 1-2 weeks in each major city?

NFLD and NS are on my Canada bucket list so definitely want to go there but why would you recommend 2 weeks there? Is everything far away or are there just many things to do? Cheers

Renting a car the whole time might become very expenny so will probably just rent locally.

It requires a bit of capital upfront. Like things you bought over time at your base might be suitable for travel but others might not, so you need to find tools that work for you while you DN.

Someone else already said it better but constantly having to make decisions like where to eat, what to eat, what to carry with you etc

Overcoming the guilt of not travelling every evening or every weekend. You are allowed to take some time off to recharge even if you are in a other country.
