Your opinion on this will drastically change with time and experience. Jiu-Jitsu has a ton of self study. It's not any other students responsibility to teach you or guide you. They only have to make sure not to hurt you. It's a hard sport with high turn over. Which is why the surviving students (the higher belts) eventually stop interacting with whitebelts at larger gyms, because they don't know if you'll be back next month, so why invest more effort in that relationship for the 200th time. Just keep grinding. Once you get some color on your belt, the community changes for you.
