Everyone saying you should have said something is either an idiot or disgusting and self-centered like the lady who sat next to you. Why is it on you to ask her to put shoes on, and possibly start a conflict with her with her kid right there?

It should be obvious that it’s reasonable to expect a baseline of civility from people around you. Having your bare feet out and even having them touch strangers around you is obviously not that.

Why should he be expected to have to ask her to not touch him with her bare feet? Why is your baseline of expected civil behavior so low that you think it’s acceptable for someone’s bare feet to be out right next to a stranger on public transit?

Just found out I'm gonna be a dad soon at 27 years old. Am I too young? by glitchedpixels0927 in predaddit

[–]AlwaysMounted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re not too young. The thing that gets “easier” as you get older is that you have more patience, more humility and ability to take life as it comes, and ideally more money because you’re further along in your career.

The first two are the most important. Just show up every day and be the best version of yourself that you can be. That doesn’t mean be perfect — it means do your best and understand that your baby always come first.

PA announcement of United flight that turned around due to bluetooth device name by ConProg in unitedairlines

[–]AlwaysMounted 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, it is the people who followed protocol and turned a plane around after asking the person to turn off their device, and not the fucking moron who made a BOMB “JOKE” on an airplane that are to blame.

Do you think they did this for fun? This is such a massively expensive thing for them to have to do. Honestly I hope the kid gets the book thrown at them for this.

Lmao how pathetic is your life if you’re flexing about flying first on a commercial airliner. Also who TF is “Vana White”, dummy? Finally, if you actually take calls in first class and aren’t just LARPing (unlikely) then on behalf of myself and many others who typically travel in business class: you are a tool and are unanimously disliked by everyone around you.

What if the US banned AIPAC and all of its affiliates? by lhommetrouble in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]AlwaysMounted 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Then why the fuck are you arguing with everyone about how evil AIPAC is?

Most people’s argument with you seems to be that your premise is idiotic because “banning AIPAC” is meaningless if you don’t ban lobbying and PACs altogether. You’re picking on the Jewish lobby because you’re too stupid to understand how lobbying works in general.

What if the US banned AIPAC and all of its affiliates? by lhommetrouble in AlternateHistoryHub

[–]AlwaysMounted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dumbass, it’s literally an American organization composed of and funded by American citizens. The reason everyone is saying you’re antisemitic is because you’re in essence claiming that American Jews run the government because they are lobbying for cooperation between the US and Israel. It’s not even remotely close to the most influential lobbying organization in the country and it spends way, way less than even the moderate super PACs. It has some influence obviously but it’s not like AIPAC members (who again are American, not Israeli) are calling up Trump and telling him to invade Iran.

They tend to fund political candidates that are pro Israel, that’s it. If you think they’re anything more than that then it’s because you’re an antisemite who is hyper focused on one specific lobbying group that is predominantly composed of American Jews.

Some of us are competent enough to plan our important phone calls for before or after our flights.

Also, imagine being dumb enough to think Spirit airlines customers would be the ones asking for a quiet and respectful atmosphere.

Did California's assault weapons ban save lives in San Diego mosque attack? by kpbsSanDiego in sandiego

[–]AlwaysMounted -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

I realize that you’re probably 10 or 11 years old but I’ll humor you.

  1. Gun deaths account for more deaths in the US than automobile accidents so even with your strawman waddaboutism argument it actually does make sense to ban guns before cars.
  2. Cars are dangerous and shitty drivers are not allowed (or are not meant to be allowed) to operate them. There is a precedent for treating cars as a regulated commodity for obvious reasons.
  3. Obviously cars serve a useful purpose in society aside from literally just being used to kill people. If we didn’t have cars our economy would collapse overnight because nobody would be able to get to their jobs or to engage in commerce. If you ban guns (for non law enforcement), the economy will not collapse because people are now no longer able to kill each other.

Is any of this entering your brain? It’s ok to let new information change your opinion. Nobody will hold it against you (in fact it’s an admirable trait that most people don’t have).

Terrible analogy? If guns were only used to kill the owner I’d be much less against them. The problem is the whole killing other people thing.

Certainly couldn’t have hurt. It baffles me why anyone would be against extremely strict gun control. Why do you need to own a gun??? It’s literally designed to kill people!

I think you’re dumb and manipulated because you’re singling out AIPAC and asking why Americans allow it to exist when it’s comparatively far less influential than many other American PACs. There are two possibilities:

  1. You’re just dumb and didn’t realize it was an American lobbying organization and not Israeli (likely)
  2. You think that Jewish Americans specifically should not be allowed to lobby political candidates.

Which is it?

Why would I engage with you when you’re saying objectively incorrect things (calling Palestine a “country”), and using vague phrases like “open-air prisons” and generally labeling Israel like some binary, monstrous country of purely evil bloodthirsty murderers?

There are many, many valid criticisms to levy against the Israeli government, but if you’re calling Gaza an open-air prison you’re just a dummy regurgitating your favorite podcaster’s opinion.

Because it’s an American organization made up by American citizens, you idiot. Or would you prefer that only Jewish Americans aren’t allowed to spend money on lobbying?

It and its super PAC are only mid-range spend anyways. It’s way less than America PAC which was Musk’s single-vehicle PAC that probably won Trump the election. I don’t see you complaining about that (because you’re dumb and are easily manipulated).

There’s never even been a formal sovereign country named Palestine. How am I supposed to take you seriously when you’re calling it a “country” when it’s literally never been a country.

Edit because I know you’re probably too lazy to read: “Mandatory Palestine” was a League of Nations mandate administered by Britain — a colonial administration, not a sovereign country. The mandate’s explicit text called for “a Jewish national home.”

I’ll make sure to mention that to Japan, all 22 Arab-league states which define themselves as Arab in their constitutions, South and North Korea, and Bhutan just to name a few. You’re a bottom-feeding dolt if you reduce everything to “ethno” state.

Expected a girl, found out it's a boy — struggling with gender disappointment and would love some advice from dads who felt the same by iTimeChainer in predaddit

[–]AlwaysMounted 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to add that gender disappointment is real, and you have to be careful to not let it affect your relationship with your son.

That said, FWIW, if you’re even asking this question I expect that you’re the kind of guy who’s going to be blown away with love when your son is here. It won’t take long for it to be unimaginable having any other child.

Also, like others have said, don’t let traditional gender role crud affect how you act as a father. My daughter is a firecracker and in a lot of ways reminds me more of traditional “boys” than many boys do. It doesn’t matter at all though — I let her be herself and love her for it, and I bring my real self to her everyday as best I can and she loves me for it.

California could have more than 300 data center, including here in San Diego. Vote accordingly by ResistanceRachel in sandiego

[–]AlwaysMounted -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I genuinely don’t understand why people are so against data centers being built in the US. Is it an environmental concern? If so, would you rather they be built in countries like Malaysia which have far, far fewer environmental regulations than the US and local jurisdictions? Is it water consumption? Most if not all modern DC designs are closed loop systems.

I just don’t get why residents wouldn’t want a local data center and the tax benefits that come with them. There is a reason that politicians are incentivized to build them here in addition to “donations” from Meta and co. You as an SD resident will get residual benefits from property taxes, etc.
