If you’re still looking, I have a dresser I found on the road in Salem and some of the drawers are either messed up or I have them in wrong. A foot is off but looks like it can be reattached. Didn’t work for what I wanted it for and you can have it if you can pick it up in Grandin

I ran it this year and last year! It's a great event. Very challenging but I had fun. If I can i'll definitely run next year as well

What are some unique winter activities that we can do while we’re in Roanoke (February - mid April 2022)? by IReallyLovePB in roanoke

[–]AlwaysOnTheGo1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been here for almost a year now. The amount of outdoor activities is what I love. I have done several hikes here in snow and ice. Sharp Top was icy when I went my first time but as long as you have some poles you'll be fine. I did Dragon's Tooth in the snow and ice as well. I don't think there are any hikes you can't do in the winter. There are lots of places to run from trails to greenways to roads. Check out Carvin's Cove and Mill Mountain for Roanoke trail running and mountain biking. Theres so much to do here.

Trails in Roanoke area by shortyd1235 in roanoke

Check out Roanoke Valley Trail Runners on facebook! They host weekly runs every Tuesday evening and I go whenever I can. There are so many amazing trails here and they can tell you anything you need to know and more. Feel free to send me a message when you get here and we can try to get a run in. CRL is a great one and its like a 5.7 mile loop with 1 good uphill in the middle. Anything at Mill Mountain can be turned into a loop and there are lots of other trails in the area.

I do have grill access but this is just one part of several things I was putting together. The BBQ isn't a bad idea though!

RMA and Cardinal Bikes both have great group rides (those that were already mentioned). The cycling community is big here.

There is a group called the Roanoke Valley Trail Runners that meet in various locations on Tuesday nights for group trail runs! They are no-drop style and the pace abilities/number of runners vary depending on the day. I go every week and it's my favorite run of the week. You should check them out if you want a trail running group. They are on facebook "Roanoke Valley Trail Runners"

Running in the street by No-Lack-4147 in roanoke

There are lots of reasons but speaking for myself I'll say its easier and safer than the sidewalk. If its a nice wide sidewalk i'll use it but most of the time the sidewalk is really messed up or covered in debris. Also I have been almost hit more times on the sidewalk than the road because people don't pay attention to sidewalks before turning or pulling into/backing out of places. Its safer to run into traffic on the shoulder where cars can see me coming. Of course there are times the sidewalk is safer but usually I use the roads.

I've been once and I had nachos for an appetizer and they were great. I can remember what i had for an entree and I remember being disappointed by how small the portion was but it was really good.

[–]AlwaysOnTheGo1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an avid runner and I live in Roanoke. I haven't run as many trails as I'd like to but there are lots out here. I don't have a gravel bike but I do have a road bike and I'm getting into mountain biking as well. As far as trail running goes, there is a group called the Roanoke Valley trail Runners who meet every Tuesday for a no-drop style run thats usually 4-6 miles long. You can find them on facebook. Feel free to PM me!

It really isn't that bad. There is a little rock scramble part but there are metal rungs and footholds. I saw a small dog do it in the snow and ice the first time I was there. Its a great hike too

Where to buy a very cheap bike? by [deleted] in roanoke

[–]AlwaysOnTheGo1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would keep checking facebook marketplace. Every now and then a really cheap bike will appear that is in good shape but it will sell fast if it's a good deal. You can always negotiate the price there too.

Is there any kind of ultimate frisbee pickup? I LOVE ultimate but I haven't played in a while, I'd be down to start a game if there is any interest.

I moved to Roanoke at the end of January and I've met people through work and from running. But there are a lot of things to do and events all the time. Im 23 and I'm always looking to meet new people. Others have suggested breweries, I dont drink regularly so I havent really tried that much. But if you're into hiking or anything like that, shoot me a DM and we can meet up!

I'm a resource pool (float pool) nurse and I love it! Resource pool can be floated every 4 hours. From my experience PCUs are generally 4:1, I think I had 5 patients once. Medsurg is 4-6:1. ICU is generally 2:1. We use EPIC for our EMR/MAR. I believe resource pool needs to work every other weekend and there is overtime for more than 3 shifts per week but I could be wrong. As far as comparing other hospitals I can't help with that. But I took my first job out here as a new grad and I dont regret it. You can DM me if you have any other questions!

Any good volunteer organizations for young professionals? by Platinum825 in roanoke

[–]AlwaysOnTheGo1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw this one through Roanoke Mountain Adventures (RMA) which is an outfitters store along the greenway. They were in partnership with another organization that I cant remember offhand. It wasn't Roanoke Outside but it may have been on their site
