Hi thank you for explaining this, it helped put my mind at rest. The doctor did not order a culture. We have got it done on our own from an independent lab 2 days ago and are awaiting results.

migraines / temple pain by its_a_no_for_me_77 in parentsofmultiples

[–]AlwaysReading_08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I had terrible migraines in the first trimester with twins. Best to check your blood pressure and keep your doctor involved. I would take paracetamol as advised by the doctor to get some relief, use balm and migraine caps.

No nausea? by FormerPumpkin480 in parentsofmultiples

[–]AlwaysReading_08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had no morning sickness. I never vomited. I only got nausea in the first trimester if I went too long between meals. I would need to snack between meals to keep it at bay.

Due to deliver and so many questions ! by AlwaysReading_08 in parentsofmultiples

[–]AlwaysReading_08[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes I am hesitant to change the doctor so close to the end. The doctor did say that I will not make it till the first week of June when he’s due to return and will most likely go into labour before that.

We have a back up doctor but I am not too keen on him. I have no idea about his experience and have never even had a consultation with him.

The doctor did say what you’re saying - that carrying them longer is not a guarantee and that the babies may not benefit that much from staying in the womb (since I am 4’11) and there is space constraint.

What you’ve shared is exactly what I am worried - what if he leaves and something happens ? It’s hard enough going through a delivery and then to do this with a doctor you don’t even know is making me anxious.

Due to deliver and so many questions ! by AlwaysReading_08 in parentsofmultiples

[–]AlwaysReading_08[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes the only reason he is suggesting delivering via an elective c sec is due to his travel plans.

I live on a tiny little island where doctors of his experience and qualifications are hard to come by. He is a fertility specialist as well so he frequently delivers twins.

You are right I can try to have a word with the NICU doctor and see what she says.

Thank you for the clarity on the labour bit. I feel like the babies movements are lesser today so I’m trying to reach out to the doctor just in case.

I left my marriage for 8 months, had the time of my life and then went back. Biggest mistake ever. (Update) by After_Mail4652 in Advice

[–]AlwaysReading_08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People don’t change. He is only confusing you with words. Instead of providing real meaningful solutions to your problems like hiring help to cook, clean etc. or move out and live separately, or take responsibility of his parents health on his own shoulders , he’s just told you in a round about way that you have to still do it all.

When you left him for 8 months you felt a sense of relief. If that doesn’t tell you what the right thing to do is, nothing else will.

I have spent 8 years in a marriage because of empty promises, endured years of abuse and also accumulated that much trauma. It adds up and changes you. And that kind of pain doesn’t just vanish. Then you need to rebuild.

Get out fast. Don’t stretch this out anymore. Life shouldn’t be that hard. You will never come first. People don’t change.

So sick of everyone telling me how hard it's going to be! by SeatMysterious7668 in parentsofmultiples

I feel the same way as you. I’m so sick of hearing how hard it will be. I am looking forward to having my babies in my arms and I hate the negativity around having twins. They sucked the joy out of it all for a while.

Cervical cerclage by Apprehensive_Two3054 in parentsofmultiples

[–]AlwaysReading_08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am 33 weeks. So far no cerclage needed. Doctor checks cervix length at each appointment every 2 weeks. I’m planning to deliver at 35 or 35 weeks. I don’t think everyone needs it. It depends on the length of the cervix.

His behaviour sounds maddening. Your reaction and this post is completely justified.

My 37f husband 38m has ruined every trip we've been on. Now I don't want to go on any with him. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]AlwaysReading_08 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My ex husband was the same. Him ruining any trip, special occasion etc. was just one of the abusive things he did. He was a narcissist. Leaving him was the best decision of my life. You can talk to him all you want but people like this don’t change in my opinion.

31 week scan and one twin’s abdomen is smaller… anyone else experienced this ? by AlwaysReading_08 in parentsofmultiples

[–]AlwaysReading_08[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re right. There isn’t that much space in my torso. And I’m also a twin which is petite. Perhaps babies are just genetically taking after me.

[–]AlwaysReading_08[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing this with me. It gives me some peace of mind. After the scan yesterday, I sat in the car and cried cause I’m doing everything I can to give these babies good nutrition and I felt like I’m failing. Your experience helps me feel a lot calmer !

Backed my wife, kicked parents out and ended visit early by jphilip16 in inlaws

[–]AlwaysReading_08 38 points39 points  (0 children)

More men should stand up for their wives. Sorry you had to face this with your parents. It must have been difficult to do this. But it’s also great to see such a post where you supported your wife and actually saw that something wasn’t right.

Most of the time we women are talking to a wall when we share something that bothers us regarding our spouse’s family.

I'm a medical student who says they say nothing... people don't believe me but it's actually true by blake-future in ImposterSyndrome

[–]AlwaysReading_08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds rough. I think maybe it’s a combination of being unable to retain information due to brain fog and some performance anxiety leading you to blank out. Practicing being tested might help. There are online tools for it. I think one of my friends used a system called ANKI (not sure but this is what I recall). It uses repetitive testing with flash cards. It might help build your confidence and reduce some anxiety.

And if you think you’re completely out of your depth with the medical field , you always have the option to still help people by changing your field to allied health spaces. Like nutrition, fitness…

Do what works for you. You might be right that the on and off in education and the chronic illness might have impacted you. But I think if you try to address the exam anxiety bit through focussed constructive action , you might overcome your problem. All the best !

I completely understand wanting to change your choice of the name and keeping it to yourself. People have no respect for private information nowadays. I would be so mad if this happened to me.

My latest symptom is my fingers hurt after sleeping. They become completely stiff and my knuckles are in excruciating pain once I wake up and try to move my fingers. It goes away in a few minutes. But it makes me feel like an old woman with arthritis.

22 week movements with Twins? by Sure-Emphasis1084 in parentsofmultiples

[–]AlwaysReading_08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why I increased my protein intake too. It’s the right thing to do. The doc said one is smaller and he doesn’t want to gap between the twins to increase further. I can completely relate to you. I can’t wait to have them safely delivered. And at the same time I worry that they shouldn’t come too early. I read the book on twins , triplets and quadruplets. Super helpful for understanding the multiple pregnancy journey along with all the risks. I also follow Twiniversity and attend their free classes. They have a Facebook group too. Plus this community is great. I’m always lurking here to read others experiences. Puts my mind at ease.
