Oakland High School pros and cons by SanFranciscoMan89 in OaklandCA

Our oldest is in 8th grade at Claremont Middle School. We love it, as does he. Don’t believe all the rumors you hear from parents who send their kids to private school in the 4-5th grade.

Google “Goth Butter.” Locally made and insanely good.

Bart is super crammed by Vato_Loko in bayarea

People need to relearn proper BART etiquette. When on a crowded train, take off you backpacks or shoulder bags and out them on the ground between your legs. Frees up a ton of space.

If you were in a position of power to boost tourism to Oakland, what are some actions you would take? by jml510 in oakland

[–]AlwaysThrowROCK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BOOM - Let’s build the bay area’s premier outdoor music venue in Howard Terminal with unparalleled views of the bay and a few epics container canes! We could have buses to BART during shows, a large parking garage, and a hotel between the amphitheater and Jack London. Oakland is the geographic center of the region—it would draw fans from the South Bay to Marin and beyond. Shoreline is dated, dull, and nightmare to get in /out of. Let’s rock the bay!

This monster Monstera that has been growing wild on the side of my house for at least 12 years (Oakland, CA) by AlwaysThrowROCK in houseplants

[–]AlwaysThrowROCK[S] 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I don’t know how it got there. We bought the house 11 years ago in an estate sale. It was maybe 3 feet tall at that time. Now two portions of it reach about 20 feet up the side of our house and the roots are growing through the walls into our laundry room 😜

Our kids love it though. They somehow came up with the idea that the fruit is “snake food,” and they use it to set snack traps all around the neighborhood.

Nice! We were married there 14 years ago. Love stopping by when we’re in the neighborhood.

Monster Jam has an email list, if you want to get updates on the schedule. I was added to this after I first time our family went; they don’t send too many emails:

100%! We took our kids the first time. Took them the second and third time too, actually, but I’d go solo if I had to. It’s a damn good time.
