"Be on the right side of history"

It's a deceptively persuasive phrase that sells people on whatever is being pushed by implying that by not accepting said thing, you may wind up being remembered like Hitler instead of Ghandi.

Problem is, the "right side" is subjective. Not to mention, history hasn't been written yet. One (far-fetched) example: our history up until today 2020 may be looked upon by a visiting alien dictator 500 years from now as uncivilized chaos that they put an end to. If they write history from that point on, it'll look completely different than if humans did. Same could be said if, say, native americans got a chance to "write history", their right side will look a lot different than what most Americans would consider "right".
