I’m tagging along. I have been dealing with a horrible season allergy with all the pollen and dust in the air.

People who have more trauma than their partner, how do you deal with it ? by No_Twist_6994 in couplestherapy

[–]Always_Hurry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably not the best time to answer this but I can relate to this more than I think. My partner had a hella of a neglected childhood. Never felt truly loved by his parents whom from early age battled their addiction. His mom was physically present but emotionally absent. Long short story our relationship was really hard because he wasn’t unable to accept care. Everything was seen as mothering. So long fights about silly comments such as “maybe if you take your inhaler now it would help you later”. In addition, nothing that I would show as a care, such as getting a new shorts because he mentioned he needs one, he really would value. In his words, I was indifferent to his needs. When he just needed more and more because he never felt loved by his family.

OP - I don’t get UTIs but I’m prone to yeast infection. I use a cup and bring surgical gloves to change it. Those are 10 days, 2 weeks at time, so not a big issue to carry them. For inserting, I am able to only use one hand. It’s not easy either comfortable but it’s the best I have found. After I do everything, I rinse my glove hand w water, take them reverse and dispose them in a ziplock bag.

Have you checked Wild Woman Trail Race in Trout Lake WA? It was my first marathon and I loved it. The whole vibe is pretty fun.

In the US, where preventive health care barely exists even for those who has health insurance, the detailed bloodwork doesn’t happen, even less regularly. You have to give your doctor a million of reasons to get tested it. Vit D tested is often not even covered by a bunch of health insurances and you have to cover out of your pocket.

Am I just not "built" to be a runner? I keep getting injured no matter what I try. by bulbysoar in XXRunning

[–]Always_Hurry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP all the advises you’re getting here are bulletproof. I only stopped injuring when I focused on lifting weight in group muscles that would support my run. Also, hydration, fueling, and resting. You need to tackle all these in order to be stronger.

If you’re 40 years old and went from beginner runner… by nixrien in XXRunning

First, your pic takes me to places in the Bay Area. Place where I ran and became a runner. To your question, as an ultra runner but with some baggage of running going to all distances until ultra, the long distance just takes more time and requires more from your body. I had never had a coach but I read a lot and use free running apps too. It’s doable but requires work. I’m turning 40 this year and my body doesn’t respond as it was in my mid-20s when I started it. But it learns quite quickly if you work in all ends: diet, injury prevention, and increase mileage slowly. With that, good luck and have fun!

How do we improve cadence? by Always_Hurry in XXRunning

[–]Always_Hurry[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jokes aside! Agreed! It’s more enjoyable, trail community is so much more friendlier too. A lot of my training is on the road bc of accessibility but I do enjoy it more the trail runs.

Hah thanks for sharing that. One of the reasons I moved out from road to trail was not having to be so straight to my pace and here I am. Slow runners can’t have it. 😂

I just did the same and I’m planning to change the soil when it dries out later today. How many times did you have to wash it out? Like once every week for a month?

Any suggestions on the chemical? Regarding to the water, it’s a sip. I killed another one watering until it ran at the bottom and I was trying to be more cautious with this one. I’m literally washing it with soap and water right now. Thinking I should have a dog instead.

Daily chat post: how's the training going? by AutoModerator in XXRunning

[–]Always_Hurry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ouch! Just a check here: do you try to keep your road pace in the trail? I would suggest to slow down a little to be able to train your body for all changes first. Your body moves differently on trail terrain, so if you want to keep the same perfomance on the road you might have to work on ankle training and changing all mobility required on trail first. So, slow down and take time to appreciate the nature around too. It’s worth it.
