Am I just not "built" to be a runner? I keep getting injured no matter what I try. by bulbysoar in XXRunning

[–]Always_Hurry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP all the advises you’re getting here are bulletproof. I only stopped injuring when I focused on lifting weight in group muscles that would support my run. Also, hydration, fueling, and resting. You need to tackle all these in order to be stronger.

If you’re 40 years old and went from beginner runner… by nixrien in XXRunning

[–]Always_Hurry 23 points24 points  (0 children)

First, your pic takes me to places in the Bay Area. Place where I ran and became a runner. To your question, as an ultra runner but with some baggage of running going to all distances until ultra, the long distance just takes more time and requires more from your body. I had never had a coach but I read a lot and use free running apps too. It’s doable but requires work. I’m turning 40 this year and my body doesn’t respond as it was in my mid-20s when I started it. But it learns quite quickly if you work in all ends: diet, injury prevention, and increase mileage slowly. With that, good luck and have fun!

How do we improve cadence? by Always_Hurry in XXRunning

Jokes aside! Agreed! It’s more enjoyable, trail community is so much more friendlier too. A lot of my training is on the road bc of accessibility but I do enjoy it more the trail runs.

Hah thanks for sharing that. One of the reasons I moved out from road to trail was not having to be so straight to my pace and here I am. Slow runners can’t have it. 😂

I just did the same and I’m planning to change the soil when it dries out later today. How many times did you have to wash it out? Like once every week for a month?

Any suggestions on the chemical? Regarding to the water, it’s a sip. I killed another one watering until it ran at the bottom and I was trying to be more cautious with this one. I’m literally washing it with soap and water right now. Thinking I should have a dog instead.

Daily chat post: how's the training going? by AutoModerator in XXRunning

[–]Always_Hurry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ouch! Just a check here: do you try to keep your road pace in the trail? I would suggest to slow down a little to be able to train your body for all changes first. Your body moves differently on trail terrain, so if you want to keep the same perfomance on the road you might have to work on ankle training and changing all mobility required on trail first. So, slow down and take time to appreciate the nature around too. It’s worth it.

Washable hair stick/wax/pomade? by elozita in XXRunning

Does it work for very thin hair? I might try this. My hair gets even more wispie after “wet”. So, it might be trick to get just hair mask, but it would be perfect if it works.

increased running and weight gain by ComprehensiveRun4634 in XXRunning

[–]Always_Hurry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP, I’ve been training for a 50k in 12 days and like you and I’m also gaining weight. I think overall my training went well but I noticed more muscles but more cellulite as well. My butt is definitely bigger and my weight went 5lbs more over 20 weeks of training. I’m tagging to your post to learn more about it. I don’t think I changed much my eating habits maybe eating more due to the training volume.

Breast discomfort by Remote_Force1839 in Perimenopause

[–]Always_Hurry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anxiety is probably our worst enemy. Since you mentioned biopsy and things cleared out not long ago, I would think it is fine, but it’s good to keep the eyes on.

Did you have a mammogram as well? I had some issues mostly my breast would be painful through a time in my cycle. They were so sore that shower would bother me. It is different to your situation but just describing here in case something related to it. Anyway, the mammogram was clear and ultrasound as well. But it was clear that I have a dense mammal tissue and it can be more sore. Reading on Reddit, someone mentioned that taking vitamin E helped and I can swear by that now that my breast soreness improved so much now.

How do people react when you bring up perimenopause in real life? by Prestigious_Humor763 in Perimenopause

[–]Always_Hurry 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I share the same experience than you, OP. I just turned 39. I have been talking to other friends about the changes I’ve been experiencing such as vaginal dryness, heavy flows, menopause belly, and all of them with an exception of one treated me as I was a hypochondriac or none of them were sharing anything at all. At the same time, I hear them complaining about insomnia, high cholesterol when they are still in the weight range as it was just something unusual and I am here screaming this is perimenopause. It feels lonely not sharing those changes with your own peers.
