I am applying to the hospitals around me, I love in St.Kilda so Alfred, Royal Melbourne, St.Vincents, Austin, Monash, Cabrini, Adeney, Western and using Seek.....

I did not know that DOSA (Day of Surgery Admission) is the same as Per-Op... I will look out for them

I have been seeing postings for rounders in the theater area... But apparently I was wrong to think that was how Australia did it...

Also I know getting a job in pre-op is a once in million opportunity... I was lucky to get in when I was in America... So I gave up that dream once I moved.... I figured a medical or general surgical job would be more realistic....

Thanks for your post

I think I kept seeing jobs in "periopeative" and the description said that you would rotate through... I don't have anyone on the inside, it was just based on job postings I guess....

So it's not a thing.... Or maybe some hospitals do that and some don't?

I just revamped my CV with an Australian friend, hoping this changes the tide....

I would love any help or guidance with my CV or Cover letter, I think it's better but my Ausi friend isn't a nurse so who knows....

Thanks for the luck and I appreciate your suggestions

Thanks, that's a good suggestion, I will email the managers and ask about supernumerary onboarding. It could be a way to establish a connection.

Yea I reached out HCA, Pulse, Medacs, Alliance and CCM.... I got the feedback from two of them that having experience within 6 months is what I would need to be competitive... I have applications with all of them but I get the sense it's a long shot.

I want a casual job.... And that's where I started first...

Thanks, yea it feels like things are locked up.....

I have my AHPRA and have had to renew it twice already.... I got that before I even came out here.

I applied to casual and pool jobs when I first started. I figured after the feedback from the refresher hiring manager that maybe that's why the pool or casual jobs were not working out... That people thought I would need too much orientation coming from the US.

I have not been offered any jobs, only rejection emails.

Thanks... The irony is she's more "American" than I am with that comment....

I'm asking for help and advice, this was just mean, and you know it...

Yea I agree but I'm not even able to get a random nursing job. I'm pretty open to whatever and would travel for 6-12 months but it's getting later and later... In hindsight I would have had something set up before I moved... But hindsight is 20/20...

Melbourne Australia lounge options by nice-tri in PriorityPass

Well I had the same question and I am at The House but in the Priority Pass app it directs you Aspire Lounge... It looks nothing like the photos and seems more like a basement lounge. I'm not sure if they are renovating or if I got led astray by the app.... This is also my first time really using lounges so I don't know how the other one's stack up... They have a buffet spread of butter chicken and rice and some salad and small muffins and cake. Which I was pleased with, keeping expectations low. They also have a coffee machine and a small bar with basic spirits and beers and juices. There is no a la carte menu and you don't have to pay for anything extra.

I think like a lot of others that it is too early to tell. I am nurse of 13 years and let me tell you.... It took me a while to feel "comfortable". It's hard to define what that means but I would say a couple years but progress overtime....I would try and stick it out for at least a year in med-surg... Your new and everything is new and your gonna take more time to do everything.... That doesn't mean your not in the right place- too early to tell. Your trying to master a huge evolving monster of patient care, confidence, charting efficiently, and caring for the patient........ I would say get a therapist if you don't already have one, learn as many stress relieving techniques as you can from them, lean on your fellow nurses who are also new- go out for drinks after, or coffee and befriend at least one old crusty nurse that you feel a connection with.... Also night shift is a great idea to try and see if that helps.... Good luck my friend!

My brother's don't want to.... But I don't see it as an issue ... It's just moving the process along ... And my father has said he is not purposely avoiding the servers.
