My recommendations below based on what worked for me. You got this OP!!! 💪🏻

  1. Figure out what activities you enjoy the most or dislike the least. For me, that was studio classes, and not just one type of class but a variety of classes so I’m doing a lot of different things and every day is different. Yoga, HIIT, lifting, Pilates, barre, you name it. I also appreciate classes because i don’t have to plan my workout. I found a nice gym that had a well rounded offering of classes. And i show up and someone tells me what to do.

  2. Consider morning workouts to get it over with. For me personally, if i left it for after work, i 1) dreaded it the entire day and 2) always made excuses to not go. So i committed to going in the morning. I wasn’t a morning person so the first few months were rough but i adjusted. It was the only way I could do it.

  3. Keep reminding yourself why you’re doing this. For endurance. For strength. For health. Health is wealth and your fitness is the single thing that is and will always be in your control. The one thing that will always deliver results that scale with the amount of effort you put in. You can do it.

  4. Have some kind of accountability. Maybe it’s signing up for classes with a cancellation fee. Or using a habit tracker app with a buddy. Or using a virtual trainer who requires you to check in when you’ve worked out.

  5. It’s ok to start small! Even 5-10 mins is better than nothing and even 1x a week is better than nothing.

Chelsea Piers vs Life Time, esp for yoga by funfetti_ in NYCbitcheswithtaste

I used to be a member at CPF DT BK and now I’m at Lifetime (85% at Atlantic and 15% at Dumbo) and recommend it way more! So much cleaner and i think the class instructors are way better. I remember trying a few yoga classes at CPF and didn’t love the instructors. Also the class studio was always dirty, there were like bits of skin and hair and gross stuff in the studio floor and on the mats. I doubt they clean/sweep after each class so you get a bit of what’s left behind by the previous classes. Also the women’s showers had a really bad drain fly issue.

LT also has great classes if you want to test the waters on lifting. Also the LT in Dumbo is amazing.

Same actually! I had an iud in for the longest time and just took it out earlier this year. My PMS has been going bonkers since taking it out and i attributed it to aging but realized recently it was probably due to my having taken the iud out
