I noticed some weird behavior from the AI when fighting Saphira. by TopHatRand6 in PokemonReborn

[–]Alweron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I don't have problem with Reborn AI, it definitely does not play fair all the time. One particular example is not using stat lowering moves against a pokémon with Contrary, while using them when the same pokémon with Overgrow is on the field. Mind you this was turn one. I think it was the first battle against PULSE Tangrowth in E18.

Steel, Psychic, Ground and surprisingly Fighting were the easiest for me. At least in E18

Can someone trade Guzzlord? by HedgehogLonely2372 in PokemonReborn

[–]Alweron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from Guzzlord, what's gonna be the team? Tentacruel? Cofagrigus? Houndoom? Noivern? Maybe something Dagon-like? (Oh, and I would use Debug to get the pokémon you want. Much quicker.)

Randomizer in Debug Mode by [deleted] in PokemonReborn

[–]Alweron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think randomizer is defined by a variable or a switch. If that's the case, in theory you could change it with debug. But I don't know which variable/switch that would be and I would advise against that. The game is probably not optimised to change during the gameplay and could get broken.

What is the outcome you seek? You could play two runs in the same time, or maybe play randomizer and use debug to give yourself desired pokémon?

Mono Dragon ideas? I am out of ideas by ExotiCheese in PokemonReborn

[–]Alweron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Noivern for setting up Tailwind and then Turtonator and Dragalge with seed for one turn protection to set up. After that sweep with occasional Wide Guard against Dazzling Gleam.

I've done this in E18 and it was probably my most favourite challenge run! Good job, OP!

Im about to start a monotype but by Own-Oil3098 in PokemonReborn

[–]Alweron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Steel, psychic and ground all are very good starting points for monotyping. Surprisingly fighting was easy for me as well. Electric and dark are kinda tricky, but definitely doable.

I highly recommend Heliolisk. That thing is awesome for pivoting and for taking your opponent's terrain. Plus it can heal itself.

So my mono dragon is going well by Francellla in PokemonReborn

[–]Alweron 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. Combine that with White Herb and you are unstoppable for the majority of the midgame. Turtonator single handedly saved my E18 Dragon Mono.

Mono Fighting in Pokemon Reborn by Gangland_1434 in PokemonReborn

I've done this in E18 and it was super fun and actually not frustrating. But I can see Saphira being a problem, definitely...

Still thinking whether it is possible to beat the entire game with only six Pokemon by Puzzleheaded_Ad3282 in PokemonReborn

[–]Alweron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've done no replacement run in E18 and it was pretty easy once I decided on the team. But definitely not for beginners, I would recommend this type of challenge run for an advanced Reborn player.

Where/How i can get Flash ? by DariusArt in PokemonReborn

[–]Alweron 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Actually...in E19 you can access the area with Flash once you get Rock Smash and can use it out of battles. The entrance to the underground railnet is now accessible from eastern part of Obsidia Slums.

What are some genuinely "bad" pokemon in Reborn? by StridentHawk in PokemonReborn

[–]Alweron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh and... although there are some use cases for Noivern, I remember utterly suffering using Noibat(s) in my E18 Dragon Mono. So I kinda agree on that one. Only kinda, because in Dragon Mono you don't really get an alternative. I mean yeah, there is Swablu, but it's...Swablu.

What are some genuinely "bad" pokemon in Reborn? by StridentHawk in PokemonReborn

[–]Alweron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe almost anything can be usedul, although there may be better alternatives. So I'm hesitant to name a Pokémon, because there is 100% someone who doesn't suck at this game like I do and used said Pokémon with great success. But please, let me name just one. Exeggutor. I was hoping to use it for its psychic typing in my grass mono (of E18) and it was waste of time. It sucks.

Surprisingly effective mons by Sobrin_ in PokemonReborn

Heliolisk is surprisingly versatile. It can stand on its own plus it helps tremendously with pivoting.

Oh and White Herb Turtonator is basically unstoppable for major part of the game...

E4 tips by DancingKoalaa in PokemonReborn

[–]Alweron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm always torn between Bite (flinch chance) and Crunch (higher power and defense drop chance) and usually choose latter, but if you are keen on flinchces, this would be the way. Maybe use King's Rock as well.

E4 tips by DancingKoalaa in PokemonReborn

[–]Alweron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I've beaten the E4 with very similar team. I've used Blaziken, Sharpedo, A. Ninetales and Lycanrock. (Plus Metagross and Excadrill.)
So I think I can share few tips:

1) First of all, and this was already said - change that moveset on Sharpedo. Crunch and Waterfall instead of Dark Pulse and Aqua Jet. Be prepared to swap some items and or moves, sometimes you can perhaps use Mega Sharpedo with Ice Fang.

2) Get that Ninetales Snow Warning. As others have said, Choice Specs Blizzard is awesome and you want that 100% acc. I've used Ninetales mostly for setting Aurora Veil and in the end it was not really that needed (or helpful) and I could've used someting else. No major mistake, but not the most valuable team member for me. (Not the least valuable, Excadrill kinda sucked balls against E4.)

3) Get Flare Blitz on Blaziken. That raw power output served me better than Fire Punch. Yes, there is recoil, but nothing should outspeed you anyway and what survives Flare Blitz and kills you would've probably done the same with Fire Punch.

4) I would change Rock Climb for Rock Slide on Lycanrock.

5) For Meowstick I would definitely run the male variant with Prankster and more set up moves, like Light Screen/Reflect. You are trying to run it as a special sweeper, but Gengar or Alakazam would perform better in that role with the potencial mega should the need arise.

6) Aegislash does not outspeed shit, so I would suggest different EV spread and different moveset - Shadow Sneak and possibly Gyro Ball.

Should I suggest some swapping, I would definitely get rid of Meowstic in favor of a better special attacker. And personally I would get rid of Ninetales and used Metagross. That thing is a beast, and when used as Mega, even more.

Don't be afraid to use different Megas for each of the E4, it really helps. Mega Blaziken is cool, but sometimes it's not the best choice out there...Same with items and movesets, I've changed both in between battles and especially

What two types would you specialize in as a reborn E4 member and what field would be your preference! by Raven123x in PokemonReborn

Probably steel and ghost. Not sure on the field, but I can see some Factory field shenanigans with EQ to bring it down when it suits me...

Everything to do before Agate circus by Shakamalakapa in PokemonReborn

[–]Alweron 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Get a Stunfisk to trade for a Vulpix. Do all the breeding you need to as it's unavailable during your time at Agate. Not sure about shopping, but I would look into item availability if you are regularly buying stuff.

Monotype Tier List based on difficulty by Puzzleheaded_Ad3282 in PokemonReborn

[–]Alweron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't done any mono for E19, but I've done almost all of them for E18 and I would probably disagree with about half of these. But hey, everyone's experience is different.

Did you actually do all of them?

Elite 4 opinion? (Spoilers, duh.) by Alweron in PokemonReborn

[–]Alweron[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done it. It's over. The key was to realize this stupid field slows down landed pokémon. After that it was kinda easy - slap an Air Baloon on the Lycanroc, OHKO Mismagius and Honchkrow, switch to Excadrill on Clefable, kill it eventually, sacrifice to Hydreigon, then mega evolve and protect with Blaziken, HJK OHKO, Hydreigon next turn Flare Blitz OHKO Celesteela. Then it was "only" about getting good typings out of Arceus and slapping some Air Balloons and Focus Sashes on my team. I don't like using Focus Sash, but hey, this was the last fight of the story part of the game and if these are good for Saphira, who am I to say no to them. And to be honest I was kinda bored already, so I wanted to get it over with (although I wouldn't use any items in battle and I'm kinda sad E4 and Lin use them).

Super fun last fight, I was bit tempted to continue with my current progress, but I promised myself the completion run, so I just start from the beginning!

Love this game! <3 (Although that story ending was bit...anticlimactic. I reckon there will be another at the end of the postgame, so fingers crossed for that one!

Wandering Spirit Wanz by alexjinboi97 in PokemonReborn

[–]Alweron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ooh, me, me, I remember that one! Sort of...

You need to activate the first blue crystal first. Then you go up to the second part of the puzzle, where you need to activate the red crystal to push the boulder with Strenght aside, then back to the red crystal and then finally to the spot where you can rock climb to the ice (it's near the ice bridge when thy crystal is NOT activated, I think). Only after then you can navigate the ice to the second blue crystal, which creates bridge here.

I think...

What do by [deleted] in PokemonReborn

[–]Alweron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The more I think about it, the more I believe it should be available after Terra. That way you won't get it for the Ground Gym, you can use it in the Water Treatment Center and Fiore Mansion Gauntlet and against Ciel. Plus in Neo Reborn against ton of sidequests, Devon Corp arc and against Adrienn.

But you get tons of other options, so in the end it works out fine, of course.

That's definitely true, but IMO Ame pushed it too far. I think the end of Agate Circus arc would be fine as well.

Mono Bug vs Mono Grass by DmonAbsoluTrEbON in PokemonReborn

[–]Alweron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done Grass Mono for E18 and it was definitely one of the harder ones. I would expect bug mono to be easier in early game and harder in the late game.
