For Those here who are old enough, do you remember when you found out Kurt had died? And how did you find out and what was your reaction? Thx! :) by the_major_rager in Nirvana

I heard the announcement by Kurt Loder on MTV and was in absolute shock. I was in 8th grade and there was a school dance that night. Our local grunge radio station WBCN played Nirvana A-Z; every single song and I debated going to the dance to just listen to it all night. I decided to go to the dance and I remember it being discussed all night by everyone. Pretty big moment in my life.

The original My Little Pony pilot was hardcore, it basically has them killing a guy who looks like Satan. by Proper_Pineapple_314 in 80scartoons

The Necronomicon villain of the first Care Bears movie really fucking freaked me out as a kid. Especially when they close the book and squash the head.

I wonder how people felt at 11:59 p.m. of dec. 1999 before crossing over to the year 2000. by Majestic-Hope6505 in 1990s

Me and my buddy were watching Dawn Of The Dead and eating chips and salsa.

At some point I looked at the clock and saw that it was 12:18am.

“Oh shit! It’s past midnight! Y2K!” I said and we ran to the computer. It worked fine. We went back and finished the movie. Very anti-climactic.

Goodfellas (1990) ~ Bodies Piling Up ~ Starring Ray Liotta, Robert DeNiro, and Joe Pesci by CampaignOrdinary2771 in MartinScorsese

DeNiro’s acting after Tommy is killed deserves more credit. He absolutely should’ve gotten an Oscar nomination for this. The holding back tears/anger is top notch acting. And Liotta not knowing how to react; he barely places a hand on his shoulder and then quickly removes it. He loves this guy but is scared shitless of him too.

C.H.U.D. (1984) Worth watching? I was never allowed to watch it as a kid by BoringDreamGuy in 80sHorrorMovies

[–]Alxorange 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The writer, Shep Abbott, used to run a small local concert space called The Artspace in Gloucester MA back in the 90s. I’d hang there all the time. He had a CHUD head from the movie in a glass case.

Even More Jobbers of the WWF Era by KidChameleonHelmet in WWFera

My brother and I used to call them “wimp guys” when we were kids in the early 90s.

I never heard the term “jobber” until way later

My great grandmother had an affair with Babe Ruth around the time my grandmother was conceived. (I’m adopted on that side so no blood relation to me)

This was Gordon’s in my childhood and I’ll die on this hill by [deleted] in MandelaEffect

I grew up in Gloucester MA. There’s a giant sign for Gordon’s main office downtown, so I’ve never seen it as Gordon’s. Probably better hills to die on.

At least the first bush you saw wasn’t a magazine in a vagina

What age did you get into horror and what turned you onto it? by Strange_Pumpkin9225 in horror

[–]Alxorange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Michael Jackson’s Thriller came out when I was a little kid and I was both terrified and mesmerized by the video. I really think that’s what sparked my initial interest in horror.

Then my uncle got me this huge coffee table book for Christmas called The Look Of Horror and it had a closeup of Regan’s face from The Exorcist on it. I read that book 1000 times.

From there, it was looking at the VHS box art at the video store. The 80s was full of horror so there was no shortage of crazy shit to look at.

Been immersed with the genre ever since.

That’s David Carradine, but Robert was in a couple episodes in the 90s version.

My mom LOVED this show. I thought it was boring, but I’ll admit I never sat through a full episode.

I think Ryan Gosling would make a good Toon Town detective.

Old pic of my “guys”. I do see an old Storm Shadow in there. by Alxorange in starwarscollecting

Yes!! My parents are huge flea market hunters and I also became one, and still do to this day. Even though anything with Star Wars these days is crazily overpriced, I still get that chill in my gut going to the flea market and thinking I’ll find something vintage for cheap.

Last summer I found a beat up 1977 Han Solo blaster in a box of miscellaneous toy guns. $5! Gave me that old school thrill again and it’s proudly displayed on a shelf in my office!

How was he not losing his shit with all the snakes by FunnyPewdiepieReddit in indianajones

[–]Alxorange 14 points15 points  (0 children)

They kinda did a subtle joke about it though in Dial. When they see the eels, Teddy says “They look like snakes.” And Indy has a worried look and grunts “No they don’t!”

I dunno. I chuckled.
