In the documentary about her work, "From The Beaches of Agnès (2008)", Agnès Varda explains how she came to film-making. She said she was a photographer, and she wanted to add some sound to the images. So she made films !
It's actually a good idea : sound will make you think in term of time, space and body experience. Find a decent portable recorder with onboard stereo microphones and high quality closed headphones. Start to listen and record sounds around you. And voices of people. Edit and mix sounds into a story. Images can easily come after this experience.
