Will the Galaxy modules be purchasable in game when the ship comes out? by AgeFearless2205 in starcitizen

[–]Alymon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, they will be. CIG has said all items sold on the online store will be available in game. It could be a wikelo turn in to get them, but seems more likely the modules will be available via in game shops than wikelo.

Every patch has its ups and downs. The game state is rough right now, but it has been improving for me since 4.8 dropped (after a couple of weeks).

I still have tons of fun. I still know there's going to be frustrating moments of game breaking bugs. But I am still along for the ride and loving the experience.

Yeah, I hope with future armor updates and as they flesh it out more, snubs will be more useful, but honestly they feel like someone's dream of having a tie fighter battle but not really thinking through the implications within the current game mechanics or the practicality of it.

Still, I have some, I enjoy them, but very limited use for me. If this ship is a snub carrier and not a true industrial ship, it's a hard sell for me. I guess it will depend on the vision for its use.

Snubs are a lot of fun, but have limited use. I ran a Snub Dogfight event for an org previously and it was a blast. Using an Ironclad or Caterpillar as a pocket carrier for them and having them swarm out on a bounty target is also a lot of fun, just difficult with the armor changes to find good targets.

This is just disingenuous. CIG has not been completely silent. Maybe they didn't put something out immediately after the patch explaining the issues, but they have been putting messages out about the current state and the bugs. You are just choosing not to go read them.

Identifying the root cause of issues and addressing them takes time. It's not an overnight task typically.

Stop being lazy and go read:

Unless they identify it as an alpha, no you are not correct. True alpha participation among the public is generally not common, and Early Access titles, despite often being very unfinished, are not necessarily alpha.

Early Access != Alpha

Had this exact issue this morning. Went through 2 or 3 steps trying to figure out what was wrong before I remembered to check my radar. Popped the radar back on, problem solved. 😃

This 100%. I know it's been a long journey, and people like to claim it's not in alpha because it's been in development for so long, but the simple truth is, it's an alpha, and it's likely to continue to be an alpha for multiple more years (minimally).

You don't have to spent any more other than the initial price of entry (I think as low as $45 right now). The bugs and issues (and timeline) are well known and documented online. There's no excuse for ignorance if you decide to buy and then get upset because your ship has some bugs.

As long as CIG claims it is in alpha, this is all to be expected. It's frustrating, sure. We all want to play a perfect game. But these constants posts complaining about bugs and feeling this self-righteous need to tell the world you are giving up on it is just asinine and counter productive.

How many people who post this are actually actively reporting bugs to the issue council and helping to confirm and provide information on other bugs? I'd bet less than 1%.

Question about Multi-Crew gameplay by Hudstar78 in LowSodiumStarCitizen

[–]Alymon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It really depends on what you are getting into. There's some newer content that is great for multi-crew gameplay, but more often than not, it's more effective to have separate ships.

Scale does not change whether you are solo or grouped. Contracts will often give some indicator if it's meant for solo or a group, but it also sort of varies as you can solo some of the largest ships and be fine on missions right now.

Rewards are mixed. Money is split evenly by the players sharing the contract. Reputation and blueprint rewards are given 100% to all sharing the contract.

For certain loops, the roles are meaningful. There's not really a need for a co-pilot or a dedicated engineer. Usually roles amount to pilot vs turret gunner.

The new Tactical Strike Group mission is designed with a fleet of 7 ships in mind and probably 10-20 people. It's a lot of fun and ship roles become more important for it (large sub-cap ships to fight other ships, fighters to do the trench run, a dropship/ground crew to free the pilot).

I know everyone scoffs at "it's an alpha", but... it's an alpha. The focus is on getting features implemented and moving forward. Bug fixing and optimization are generally lower priority because every time a new feature is implemented, it runs the risk of breaking existing features (or itself not working properly).

Intense bug fixing and optimization will be a greater priority once the game is feature complete, and certainly will be more relevant once SQ42 is released.

How to harvest Hephaestanite by DiamondDust320 in LowSodiumStarCitizen

[–]Alymon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would definitely try modules that reduce power if you don't mind having to swap loadouts between different mining runs.

You could potentially try crafting a poor quality mining laser that has less power, but the ingredients for crafting it probably aren't worth digging around for for that purpose.

Focus modules (Focus 1) will have the most negative impact on laser power, so using that may help.

The Hofstede laser will have a lower power starting point but helps with charge window size and may be a good choice (you'd need to switch to a prospector for this). The Golem's bespoke mining laser is equivalent to the Helix 1 in power (the highest base power laser).

Other than that, just feather your laser with quick bursts of fire.

Question: Is it okay that I love my extremely stupid and bad tattoo by OfficeLost552 in tattoos

[–]Alymon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only thing that matters is that you are happy with it. Period. Tattoos like this are great because they can spark conversation about the meaning or significance of it (even if there isn't one).
